That Broadsheet synopsis of the case is astoinishing. Also how did a 15 year old find access to black masses? There seemed to be a lot of Opus Dei people in his community, probably some people had a connection to the occult and satanic rituals? The Gardai didn't seem so keen on finding out either way.

    +1

    It is chilling.

Bale had all the props, bucket of faeces, consecrated hosts, unidentifiable powder etc., FFS a child must have been taught this ritual by an adult.

There was no internet, books were banned, so who provided him with the knowledge??

(Could he even have constructed the hidden entrance to the attic privately, without any adult assistance, in the days before power tools? Did mum never look into the wardrobe to find bits of plaster on the floor of it?

The gaurds turned a blind eye to it.
Never asked any questions about this aspect.

Neither did other institutions of the state.

A 2010 book review by Lorcan bale:

Book Review: Coming Closer to Christ – Confession and Forgiveness – Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh.

In giving guidance about how to prepare for communion by first confessing our sins, Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh – doctor, monk parish priest, broadcaster and spiritual writer who became the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church in Britain, replied “One should not indulge in confession. One should not be careless about it” In another section he rebukes gently “It’s not just about being washed to go back into the mud.” All of the churches comprising of the Kensington Council of Church’s practice the necessity of confession and repentance in order to be in communion with Christ and the community of disciples. This deeply wise and mature compilation of talks, sermons and responses to questions about confession and forgiveness can only lead us closer together to union with Christ. The emphasis is on healing rather than Hell and is a reminder Christ came to restore damaged relationships and to enable us to love, not to condemn us. The holy and compassionate guidance is not clichéd or shallow but comes from a life of prayer from a pastor who perceives the truth and complexity of the human condition. Confession and forgiveness, is not underestimated nor are the blessings that are there eternally at the end of this process. It starts from awareness that something is wrong. Perhaps there is a message and an ecumenical method of meeting for us in these words; “But in order to become friends anew we must open our soul, tell Him everything for Him to know from us what is wrong with us, what is the infringement of our friendship.” What a good way to start the New Year. This book can be bought from Pauline Book and Media, Kensington High St. I recommend it heartily. Lorcan Bale

    Greetings,

This was a bit difficult to read.

I am not sure why the links for the rbkc - https://www.rbkc.gov.uk/sharedservices/lscb.aspx are here as I could not see anything relevant.

I saw the book on my shelf before I left for work this week, I still have not managed to finish it.

I miss John and always wondered how life would have turned out had the tragedy never occurred.

I'm a little freaked joining up some memories of my youth with my discovery of this story through this thread.
I grew up in Woodfarm Acres. I remember hearing this story growing up but never believed it. As I was looking through the broadsheet article and saw the map link a memory came to me as I looked at the house.

I was a a house party in the late 80s in the house that is 3 doors down from the house, beside where the snooker hall was. The night was hazy due to a few reasons but it always sticks with me that there was 2 weird pictures in the kitchen and possibly the living room . They were very dark imagery but in my mind I recall them being like upside down stars and we're a little creepy. It is a bit vague in my mind but that's how I remember it. Im glad I didn't remember the story or location when I was there that night in hindsight.
Must try get my hands on the book.

Hopefully this won't mean this thread gets locked but the topic's being discussed in the Rick O'Shea Book Club currently for anyone in it; I think it's getting another airing due to a case currently before the courts > https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10220100570612855&set=gm.2376222709257856&type=3&theater&ifg=1
