The Mervue Young Guvnors are a tasty up and coming firm.

They even have their own playground behind the goal at Fahy's field. Incidentally that very playground was invaded by a load of propah nawty Shels ultras at the last match there - thank God Shels have got promoted - defused a potential hooligan timebomb.

Watercannon filled with liquidised dead dogs and human sh1te would be good, too. (Or have I just described my typical weekend?)

Memo to the public service: Do not deploy born2bwild's imagination to the streets:pac:

Shels brought a fair few to the friendly in Tallaght, hopefully they get to keep Pats' shocking record at Tallaght with just one 'competitive' win, be it whatever junior competition game they won last season - Leinster Senior Cup? League Cup? EA Cup thing? Or even better, Bohs'.

Haha lets just see what our squad looks like first.

Is it normally just the Dublin clubs when they play each other?
im gonna say yes to this, even after the Harps v Derry promotion/relegation playoff(so very big game, full house) there was no more than banter and toilet paper(i can vouge for the first leg... had to miss the second but dont remember hearing anything)
anytime i hear trouble outside of dublin, i blame the dublin fans for going too far first(i know its just a few *****, iv had many a good time with dubs) but the day there isnt a dublin club involved is the day i start to change my opinion

Monaghan v Limerick just last week. Stinger on you there.

Whenever there's "trouble" at LOI games it always seems to be blown out of proportion on the internet.

As opposed to all the other firm rows (other than the 1 where the lad got seriously hurt) that attracted international media coverage. Long story short, Limerick fans acting the thug, guards had to be called, a number of arrests made. Plenty of references to it on foot.ie if you have a look there.

Don't know, dfx, until Fingal went arse up I followed them - I've seen lots of Shams matches (home and away) and I have never seen a team I've cared about lose against them. (including the friendly in Tolka very early pre season this year).
But that's just my imagination, I suppose!!

In normal media too. Tv3 had an hour show with about 30 seconds of footage. Joe duffy had an entire show about skangers in flats on dorset street thinking it was LoI related. Everyone exaggerates it!

Well nobody cares about your bigoted opinion.

Ask the Shels fans leaving Tolka with their kids in May who were attacked by Cork Foras's thugs about who likes to start trouble.

    How promotion was secured.

someone asked a question, and as far as the northwest goes i answered, there has never been trouble between the 3 loi clubs here no matter the odds. il admit i dont bother with the news (same ****e every day), and i got bored of foot.ie so i aint going there.
When it does happen, its usually in Derry and its usually the case of some dubs up the bogside signing whats it like to have a queen?
anyway i did point out its only a few *****, no problem with the dub teams in general, shels (who made great noise on tuseday) and cork will rightly battle it out to be the division winner... so can we take this thread back from the crap of the loi to something like crowning a d1 champ and an advertisment for the league?

I've been at Old Trafford when there have been running pitched battles on the forecourt and people taken away in ambulances, only to not hear a whiff of it on the news. It's a strange set up but the English media seem content to ignore and even cover up football related trouble there, while our own pounce on two scanger kids scrapping as some kind of end of day warning sign.

The fact remains that the level of football violence here is little more than two young fellas hittin' each other a few slaps in comparison to the warfare that is all too common on the rest of the continent. It doesn't take too long a search on youtube to find a Polish football fan being hunted down and murdered by others with machetes.

Sensationalist media at it's best.. but it can't be helped by all of us debating about it constantly online. Remember as well as our media being sensationalist it's also fooking lazy. A lot of quotes from sites like these are used in reports.

There was loads of violence from United fans when Celtic came and not a word of it. Mainly it was their mob 'The Men in Black' (no laughing down the back:D) but couldn't believe it when there was nothing about it in the papers.

We often don't help matters ourselves.

It's disingenuous to generate multi-page topics out of isolated incidents because it suits a club rivalry agenda and then turn around and start complaining about sensationalist media.

Forums like this are media too. And are frequently read by journalists and potential supporters.

Nobody is saying ignore the occasional incident but we have to keep in mind that it's basically a safe league for spectators, especially compared to other countries.

All memories and records of those particular games have been expunged and you may cause yourself immediate ejection from the ground, the neighbourhood and the city by referencing them, the last one in particular. :)

got to ask... has a team every had a worse season than galway? 1 win, 6pts and -95 goal difference. its shocking to think how far off the next team they were, never mind the league in general

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 842 ✭✭✭mr.wiggle

I think we have to feel sorry for Galway really.
Didn't they get thrust into the premier division by other teams misfortunes and have to scramble to try and get some players in?
Hope this season hasn't hurt them too much and they do well next season against similar classed teams
( I'm taking it for granted that Limerick or Mons will beat them in the play offs)
    Yes, I'm a city supporter ! :pac:

Don't think I said it before, but congrats to Rovers, the table never lies. I'll happily tolerate a decade of Rovers titles in exchange for Bohs surviving...

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

AHH we blew the title against Cork!

Winter is a disgrace, Clancy should never of been sent off, bboooo-urns!!

There, that's me up to date!
