When to take puppies?

I have been offered a puppy from a litter that was born roughly a month ago. Their mother died last week and the four pupies seem to be doing fine. Would it be ok to take the puppy from its three siblings? The puppies obviously aren't weaning anymore but could taking the puppy now make problems later. I am dying to get this puppy but just want to find out if anyone can tell me if this would be ok!

Try and establish why the mother died , the answer to this may have a bearing on your decision to take a puppy.

I think i would leave the pup with its siblings until its at least 8 weeks old. They will elarn a lot from each other so might be ebst to leave them until its old enough.

Why do you need to take the pup at this age? Is the breeder looking to get rid of them?

Don't take the pup until at least 8 weeks, the pup will learn from it's siblings. If you take the pup now it will be a nightmare biting etc and it won't have learned when to stop from it's siblings.

    What breed are they?

Edit: andreac got in before me!

I know therer are extenuating circumstances but I would still leave the pup with it's litter till the 8 weeks are up. It will hopefully thrive on the company and warmth of its siblings!

Such a sad story though :(

Def leave them. Hopefully the owner/carer is socializing them to eg with sounds around the house etc too as they don't have their mum to look for guidance and see from her body language eg if the washing machine is scary.

Alarm bells would be ringing in my head that someone would be willing to part with a month old pup (who would still need some specialised care), you would have to question the care it has already recieved.
It's usually best to leave a pup with it's siblings until 8 weeks old regardless whether the mother is there or not, pups are often not around their mother as much as their siblings by around 5-6 weeks anyway, it would be in the pups best interest to stay where it is for another month.

regardless how sad it is and i no everyone has sympathy for these pups since the mother died the earliest id take would be maybe 6-7 weeks but ideally 8 weeks old as stated already, they will learn alot from each other
