Electricity going on and off

Just wondering what the possible reasons for the electricity flicking off then on, it happens about once a week and obviously only goes for a couple of seconds as the clock on the oven isnt reset, it seems to happen mainly at night aswell, I dont ever remember it happening while i am there watching tv or anything but when it does happen the sky box has also been knocked off,

Any ideas as to why this might happen?

Really impossible to answer. It could be all sorts of reasons, might be a loose connection somewhere on your board/ circuits, or even something on the esb network. Only thing to do is get a good electrician. You could try ring esb networks and find out if they had problems in your area on days it happened, but they might not be able to give you that info. They will tell you to get your wiring checked in any case before they would come out
