Upgraded RAM and laptop is overheating

I recently upgraded the RAM in my Lenovo N500 laptop from 2GB to 4GB and ever since my laptop gets really hot and the fan is working overtime. Is this normal on an upgrade and is there anything is should watch out for? Thanks
