Our customer was cleaning his bike when he noticed a considerable amount of hair around the lower pulley (jockey) wheel. Just where hair on a jockey wheel comes from nobody knows but it is one of cyclings great mysteries.

Anyway, he decided that the best way to remove the hair would be to use a blowtorch...

    :pac:

the plastic bag around my saddle
What's the reason for that? Isn't your saddle waterproof? Won't the handlebars be wet also - why not cover them? Surely any rain can be simply wiped off by hand or absorbed by clothing? And finally why do some cyclists then sit on the wet bag?

I also use a plastic bag on my saddle (not while riding}. My handlebar grips are plastic so don't need cover, but the saddle (Brooks) is leather and prefers to stay dry.
Keeping it covered may also deter the beady-eyed passer-by.

The saddle on my bike back then was like a sponge, you could wipe it dry, but sitting on it would squeeze a puddle into the seat of your trousers. A bag kept the rain off it and out of it while it sat outside.

The tent ones look cool. Would take an age to put away though if its wet.

Anyways, I've seen that photo a few times before, I'm always wondering how hes pulling that! Not to mention the actual power needed to pull something like that (even when just moving at a constant speed) but there must be some weight on the rear wheel....

I presume its weighted at the back so as to not put ot much pressure on the wheel, more on its own wheels. Wouldn't want to do any climbing with it though (or more importantly descending).

    That or its not real?

It does appear in the picture to be slightly tipped indeed. I imagine it might've been a proof of concept/prototype or publicity stunt. Couldn't see all that many being sold.

You wouldn't want to weigh it too far back or you will lift the rear wheel and jackknife :p

    More here

He's citing his crash at the Criterium du Dauphiné and a desire to prepare for the Tour as the reasons.

When you have too much money and no taste you end with this:

To paraphrase the old stoner mantra: A bike will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no bike.

There were a few stands with glasses, but if you mean the stand with Oakleys then it was http://www.eyewearoutlet.co.uk/

Isn't gold like heavy and stuff... Also soft. Other than Lead or Mercury it is possibly one of the worst metals to use on a bike.

Though wheels made from Mercury would have very little friction issues....... Insane speed if you pardon the pun......

I don't think that was the one I was thinking about. It was the one on the right-hand corner near the entrance: 'Outdoor Eyewear' according to the floor plan on the Show's site. Can't find any other info on them.

Gold is very finely malleable and doesn't tarnish, so it's perfect for this superficial application - it's only gold plated.

When I was working in a shop in the U.K. we discovered a gold plated anniversary model Muddy Fox MTB in the basement, the original owner of the shop set up the Muddy Fox company and as it happens he was a Greek too (well a Cypriot, not sure if that makes a difference!) I wonder what ever happened to the bike

A man after your own heart. I believe the fork is off the Felt F1 R:

"Felt UHC Ultimate monocoque fork, InsideOut internal molding process, 100% carbon fiber Controltaper 1.125"" --> 1.5"" steerer tube, integrated headset crown race, blades, & dropouts, 304g"

    304g! Imagine the performance improvements!

Did you know that if you leave your bike outside a cafe and go inside, other cyclists who you don't know are permitted to pick it up to feel the weight of it without asking for permission?

If you don't own it and don't know who owns it, don't fúcking touch it!
