Hi Guys we are looking for a puppy class too, we have a 14 week old springer and by god he is terrified of dogs, I think someone needs to tell him he is a dog :O

I have heard great things about Dog Training Ireland but we are South Side Dublin and the Tuesday or Saturday morning don't suit :(

Just wondering if anyone has any recommendations.

    Thanks

Emmaline from www.citizencanineireland.com is great, and does classes on the long mile road.
You're right, you absolutely must address your pup's fear of other dogs asap as this problem could really grow legs, so well done for looking for help. The very best of luck!

Would really recommend IKC show ring at Cloghran - just off the M50 (takes only 15 minutes to get there from Tallaght Exit on M50). Its on every Tuesday evening from 7pm. I have my pup there every week. Its pay-as-you-go and just 5euro per class - which is great in case you miss a week. You get to meet other dog owners, have a cuppa and chat and the classes are brilliant - really well run. My pup has really benefited from the classes. They do run different types of classes here but the Obedience Classes are great. ;)

Too little too late - do you know if they run puppy socialisation classes?

Sezzie - I tried contacting them but the email keeps bouncing back :(

I have to say this puppy is definately a totally different experience to anything we had with our three previous dogs.

I had to laugh at a reply to an enquiry I emailed regarding puppy socialisation classes to a training, she came back to me saying my puppy doesn't need socialisation classes he needs me to respect his wishes and give him space from other dogs! ah hello he is the dog and I am the owner and within reason he does as he is told and having a dog that I can not bring out to walk is not right either, for either the dog or me. I am not expecting a dog that wants to be friends with every dog we come in contact with but it would be nice to be able to walk without him having a heart attack every time he sees a dog coming in our direction.

The dog training and dog socialisation run in the " national show centre" in cloughran are just brilliant : I've heard that they have a place they do the same classes from on the southaide but don't know if it's still happening. Google the Irish kennel club and ring the number during office hours; it's open to all dogs, members and non members, non pedigrees etc! The space is HUGE so if your dog is scared there's odes of space to walk him away it sit from afar and settle in; and the people who run them are just fantastic. I've seem the like of Tyrrelstown try and guilt people into paying e100 for puppy socialisation; dreadful stuff.
And the nice part is that you get to know people and can progress to other levels, activities or interests as your dog grows: and it's all just on a drop in basis a fiver a night; amazing service!!! Highly recommend!!! Just off the M50...
