Another massive blow for a Limerick town, just heard on radio that the jewellery factory in Rathkeale is to close with immediate effect.

Thats gobsmackingly terrible for Rathkeale and the surrounding area!

Bentleys Bar was closed last Thursday, Friday and Saturday, anyone know?

I never heard of the company that makes jewellery in Rathhkeale. It does look like all jobs will be lost but the liquidator will decide if there is any hope of saving jobs. It just goes to show that companies in Ireland seek their costume jewellery from the far east

Fingers crossed there is some hope

Supermacs on Thomas Street is gone.

Not surprised by this. Its too close to the other one in O'Connell St.

Eddie Rockets in the city centre are gone! It's been rebranded to a generic diner.

Heading for the bus this morning, I noticed a poster saying that the restaurant was not affiliated with ER. Sure enough, all the ER branding is gone.

Not a closure, but still a loss to the city.

Interesting, this happened the Eddie's in Galway I believe as well. Wonder will the re-brand happen in the Crescent and around the country as well.

I had food in the crescent last week and on top of the receipt it had something Joes. So i'd say the rebrand has already happened.

Yeah, some guy posted on the Galway forum about that last week. The post was deleted because they weren't validated as an official company rep. It sounds like the restaurants in half of the country are splitting from the franchise.

    Edit: not deleted! http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=86455238#post86455238 :)

For me it would be a treat but the prices kept me away. Hopefully they can revisit their prices with the new menu.

For years, you could get 2 meals for 13 euro if you found a voucher on the back of a tesco/dunnes receipt. Never really paid full price.

Yeah, we went in to the one in the Crescent last week, never noticed the rebrand and handed in the voucher at the end only to be told that they couldn't accept it because they weren't Eddie Rockets anymore. Now called Rockin' Joes.

Had a coffee and sambo there about 4 weeks ago and thought it was very, very poor. The two lads working there were nice enough but that was all.

The last thing the city needs is another cafe/coffeeshop. There are too many as it is.

Same for barbershops too. Noticed a new one has opened opposite Knights. Madness.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,000 ✭✭✭fl4pj4ck

yeah sure, all we need is a M&S outlet.... ::roll::

There's also a new one on Catherine St., where Goldmine Jewellers was. I don't know if Goldmine have closed or if they've moved.
