Is there anywhere left in town now doing a meat-free menu? I'm not vegetarian or vegan myself, but they're a great option to have in the city.

Passed through Adare yesterday. Is Serendipity shoes gone there as well?

    Oh dear.

That's the Old Firestation and the Underdog closing in the space of a few weeks. Was never in the latter, but I liked the Old Firestation, always seemed busy when I was in there too, but there must not be a market for vegan food in Limerick?

Elaborate? There's nothing wrong with a plant-based lunch or dinner every now and again.

The "oh dear" was in relation to the news that The Old Fire Station was closed. I am a vegetarian. Apologies for the confusion.

The Facebook post gave family obligations as the reason for closing. Always thought they were doing well and sad to see them go.

Da Vincenzos, Taikichi and Milanos all had separate vegan menus the last time I checked. Camile have a few options and Lana can make lots of dishes vegan if you ask. I'm sure there's more that I'm blanking on.

I’ve recently turned to the way of the plant and was looking forward to trying it.

Yeah I think there is a great opportunity for someone to take the restaurant over if it’s possible, I’m all for healthy food options

Isn’t that what we need and want independent niche things in the city?

Niche means a small market. There obviously aren't enough vegans in Limerick to keep these places viable.

there is a hippy vegan place..on one of the side streets, forget what its called

They clearly don’t have a market so pointless.

The nicest place in Limerick for food. It's healthy and she uses great ingredients.

The grove is packed every day.

The problem with Underdog is it was all for show. I really wasn't a fan of their food.

Good for them, but there obviously isn't a market for 2 or 3 vegan places or they'd still be open.

Vegetarian, so you'd have to ask what's vegan that day.

Likewise. I've never heard of it but it's often the case that these places which don't rely on social media bombast are the best of the bunch

I see Noels menswear are closing on Wickham Street. They will still have the shop on Bedford Row another nail in the coffin for Wickham street

Shame but I suppose it’s a bit out of the way. I would say the street should pick up a bit once the street works are finished, provided there is space to walk on the footpath
