kayaking courses / clubs in cork

are there any clubs in cork that a person new to kayaking can join? i have only been out on a river once but really like it - should i do some courses before even trying to join a club?

Phoenix Kayak Club in Cork is a good club:

They run beginner courses during the summer but not so much in the winter.

You should get in touch with them and see what they can do for you.
