    Hi guys
I'm in the middle of building a house and we're at the stage of looking for sanitary ware, so I have been shopping around and I'm blown away by how expensive it can all be but I went online and getting it from Northern Ireland is much cheaper and with free delivery I was thinking happy days but befor I part with my hard earned cash can anybody tell me is there a difference in the pipes, taps or wastes from Northern Ireland to the republic?

    Yes.

Low pressure to them is high to us/

They use mainly english fittings we use irish

You might need to change out the ball valves in the cistern

There is a few adjustments which are a right pain but tbh if youy know what your doing and have the time you can have it prepared for your plumber

For example. Tell your plumber you are ordering sanitary ware from england so s/he will need english irish connections.

    Get a few ball valves.

The english market mainly uses mains showers like the T80 and not T90

You need to get the spec on the fittings, especially taps and shower tray and basin/bidet waste outlets.

Some are metric and some are imperial. eg 1/2" versus 15mm

The toilets should be standard at 4" / 110mm and a multiwick will sort out any issues there.

While you are ordering on line in NI how do you know where the stuff is coming from: it could be cheap far eastern stuff masquerading as expensive english stuff,

You should see the stuff first

No problem if you have the good advise of a competent plumber who is up to date. Adapters can be bought for little money and are a standard content of the plumber's tool box.

Well, good quality doesn't have to use maskerade when origin in the far east.

    See

No British design "stuff" to be found there in Bejing, well, not with plumbing ware(smiley)

Being up to date we all followed where good quality makers went, see

Sure there is also trash from The Far East, see

and type the term "taps" into the search field.

Or "gas appliances" or whatever, interesting page.
