Are there any lesser gear systems (more than single speed, say 4 or 5 speed)

I'm just wondering, what kind of systems are available with maybe 3 - 5 gears. So there'd be only a single on the front chainwheel - maybe 48 or 46, with a cassette that has maybe 14, 15, 17, 19

Would something like this exist?

On my commuting bike, this would be all that I need, just wondering when it comes time to replace what the options would be

Is this an odd request? Has it been answered before?

Get a hub gear. 3-11 speed depending on what you want and how much money you have.

edit: I decided a while ago that I fancied a 2 speed kickshift, because you don't need any shifters at all, or even a rear brake if you go for the coaster. I haven't gotten around to it yet.

Woo, duomatic, good choice, I was thinking about one of those myself but then I came across a couple of old Sachs 5 speed hubs with the double cable shifting so I think ill use one of those for now,well thats if I ever get round to building it into a wheel.
