Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Storing silage wraps

Just wondering how everyone stores and collects the wrap off round bales once they take it off? Was thinking of getting one of those large wheelie bins with the 4 wheels for the job. Have about 4-500 wraps each year. Normally tie pallets together and stack against a wall. Anyone do it any different?

Thats a very good idea ....how many wrap would a half tonne bag roughly hold ? and when they are collecting it do you have to cut off the bags ?

Only problem with a bin is getting the plastic out of it. It can often attract vermin too as its warm and dry. They're lovely guys to have scurrying around the place when you're emptying.

We use 4 pallets at one shed, we have a half round metal diesel tank at the other with no bottom. The tank is split down the middle and hinged so when its full, you just open it up from around the plastic and set it up again for the next lot.

At the other shed we have one of these - which is the same principle as the tank:

(see the bin half way down the page)

We have a tall bag about six foot high there is at least fifty wraps in there now and its hardly half full . I poke it down with the teleporter everynow and then . Havent emptied it yet because we only started using it last year but those bags usually have yokes on the bottom for the forks so i could tip it upsidedown handy enough

Was thinking how would we empty it alright. Would be handy if we could arrange for the recycling lorry to collect once its full much the same as they collect the rubbish.

That idea with the big bags could merit a bit of research tomorrow
