    Any word on support yet?

All I know is they won't put on someone really big because the gig is sold out.

I hope for Manchester they bring back some Madchester bands like

    Inspiral Carpets
    Happy Mondays
    New Order

They're not massive bands so who knows?!

That would be great, especially new order

Its pretty safe to assume that New Order won't be there!

    Define 'really big'...

Gigs '24 - Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez), The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Ride, PJ Harvey, Pixies, Public Service Broadcasting, Therapy?, IDLES(x2)

I wonder will manchester and dublin share support acts

I'd have thought they'd be the same?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,625 ✭✭✭✭BaZmO*

I'd be very surprised if they were the same tbh. I'd imagine the Manchester gigs will have a much better line up

Surely the Happy Mondays will play this?

  • Registered Users Posts: 412 ✭✭IsThisIt???

Support will most likely come from someone playing T in the Park. That's on the same weekend with the Stone Roses playing that too I think...?

Yeah but its on before the festival, so I'm not sure that it would have any bearing on the Dublin date

Unlikely ... it's already sold out and MCD will want the Mondays gig in the Olympia to sell out too ..

Will there be a pit at this?

If the Mondays sell out on Friday, then they will surely be included. Something similar happened once Noel sold out; he was confirmed with RHCP soon afterwards.

Could potentially be Happy Mondays. Wouldn't rule out someone like Ocean Colour Scene though to keep the old school feel vibe. They normally play Oxegen so with none this year...

For an outside Irish bet what about The Minutes..??

Yeh but that was to boost ticket sales for the chillis. No need to boost sales for a sold out gig.

Yeah, I understand that bit! But it doesn't necessarily mean that the Happy Mondays can't be confirmed just because their Olympia gig is going to sell out!

Im sure the Happy Mondays are relatively cheap aswell.

Can't see them selling the Olympia out straight away though

Apparently. From someone who would know. Will remember to confirm again (here) for definite before The Big night.

Its also unlikely Liam Gallagher's ego will allow them to play support to anyone.

He loves the 'Roses and has already said he'd sell hotdogs at those gigs if they asked him to, he's dying to open for them.

Thought the Happy Mondays and Inspirals but now they've their own tour so I'm stumped.

Nope I meant Noel, the two of them are ****e. If either one of them are announced as support I will be seriously disappointed
