Happauge and component cables have arrived.

    • Plugged out HDMI cable from TV and PS3
    • Component cable is running from PS3 to PVR
    • Double ended components are running from PVR to TV
    • Have TV channel set to "YPbPr"
    • ArcSoft isn't picking up any video or audio input
    • Nothing showing up on the TV

I'm starting to worry I've been sent dodgy cables.

Anyone got any ideas? Getting pretty frustrated at it atm.

With everything plugged in correctly and the tv set to the YPbPr channel, this is all I'm seeing for the recording.

    hdpvr.jpg

No Video/Audio input listed at all.

Plug the component cable directly into the tv, then turn on the ps3. Put it into standby then press and hold down the stand by button. . You should see a menu to switch from hdmi to component there after about 15 seconds.

You're PS3 is still outputting HDMI

Turn it to component and try then :)

Also, turn off enable preview... No need for it at all

It's recognising it on the TV now through the HD PVR, hard reset did the job.

Unfortunately I'm getting some sort of pink ghosting effect when I test the 720 and 1080i settings. Gonna try unplugging the HDMI and see if it will let me try 1080p then.

You won't get 1080p from Component!

That happens in the rendering process... So much to learn young padawan

I don't suppose I can easily swap between HDMI and Component?

    GODDAMIT

HD PVR still isn't showing anything after a reboot.
    I'll get it eventually....

Strange, is direct component working on the TV?

If only you were local :p

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

    Yeah it's strange.

I'm getting everything up on the tv so there obviously IS an audio and video input going into the HD PVR, but Arcsoft says theres nothing there.

    Ah, that's good news then....

    Some silly questions!

Do you have it plugged into a front USB slot on your PC?
Do you have it plugged into USB3?

Are you running the Arcsoft software as Admin?

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

Yup, tried different USB slots just to be safe.
Running as administrator just in case.

    Still no joy.

EVERYTHING is working apart from the fact the capture module won't show audio/video input.

I unticked Enable Preview just in case.

    That's correct, that's what component is :)

    Or more commonly known as:
    Y/PB/PR, YPRPB, PRPBY, PBPRY, Y/Pb/Pr, YPrPb, PrPbY, PbPrY, Y/R-Y/B-Y, Y(R-Y)(B-Y), Y, R-Y, B-Y.

Aye I know that much by now! :P

What I mean is, it should be showing up either by default or at least as an option but I've still got nothing.

maybe you've a badly installed app or driver.
Try removing the USB connection - remove drivers and app. power down, power up and reinstall again.
Failing that - probably time to check it with another PC in case you have a faulty unit.

Don't have another PC to test it on unfortunately.

Uninstalling and unplugging all of it and reinstalling from square one. Fingers crossed.

    ....no joy.....

Caved and emailed their support with both an email and an official support form. Checked all the cables twice. Downloaded updated drivers from their site on top of the ones on the installation disc.

Still seeing it perfectly on my TV and playing away but the capture module just will not pick up that there is an audio and video input.

    I got it working!

    No idea how though.

    Nah just kidding :P

There is no way I was gonna be "that guy".

Problem may have been the USB port in the end, I was using one on the front, rather than one directly on the motherboard. Or it could have been the driver.

Here's what support recommended for anyone who ever does get stuck with this again.
Can you try completely removing the software and drivers by running hcwclear, this can be found when you browse the CD; you will need to make sure that the last 2 boxes are checked in the hcwclear window which will appear.

Then once the system has restarted can you remove any ArcSoft software via control panel>add/remove programs.

When you go to plug the device back in can you use a different USB port and make sure you are connecting it directly to the motherboard.

Then can you go directly to our website and download the latest driver for the HD PVR: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/site/support/support_all.html?prod=42 and then re-install TME.

Also can you make sure that the Video Input setting in TME is set to YPbPr and the source resolution is not set to 1080p?

Make sure the HD PVR is well ventilated.

    .

    GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

    I told you that :p

It needs a good bit of power, and those front ones are crap

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

I know, I thought they were! It was only when I opened it up I realised!

Moved a bunch of cables aside and found like 4 extra usb ports on the back.

At least you got it sorted, can't wait to see some vids now

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski
