1000 litres Corrib Oil €810 who I have given about €6000 in six years, I reckon. No budge in price despite me identifying myself as a regular customer.

1000 litres Tex Oil €800 without even asking me where i was or how i was paying.

Loyalty me hole. That's a tenner more in my pocket and €800 less in Corrib's till..... and a few grand over the next few years.

You can check out the various websites, then call them and haggle :)

I just got this email from them:
    Hi
    Thanks for your recent email.
We are still trying to find a suitable oil supplier in Galway and Mayo that will work with us.
We are working with oil suppliers in many counties, Clare, Kerry, Cork, Waterford and most of Leinster, but, as yet, we cannot find suppliers in your area that will work with us.
I would hope that this situation will change this week as there has been discussions with a number of them over the last 2 weeks.
I will let you know as soon as we have a supplier, but this may be the end of the week.

    Thanks
    Mary

Hmm, sounds like the galway oil companies don't want to get involved. The days of a galway oil cartel might not be over

    Hi All

I called Corrib Oil and told them I was getting it cheaper at €800 for 1000l - which was true. Their website shows €840. Best thing to do is call the company and negotiate.
They came down to €410 for 500l.

    Regards,
    ciaran

I'm guessing here but i'd imagine the discount code is relevant to a persons loyalty fob/card they are given and uses their club/loyalty points

I got a couple of quotes this morning..

    Westcoast fuels - €17 for 40kgs, 10 bags for €160.
    Briquettes €4 per bale.

Got a number out of the advertiser <snip, PM for number biko>
    €18 for 40 kgs
    Briquettes €4 per bale
Logs medium bag €4.40 large €6.

McDonoghs in ballybane are the best dealio so far with
    €30 for 80kg
Briquettes for 10 bales for €32.50

anyone else know of any good deals?? i don't think the briquettes in mcdonaghs will be beaten. The other two i called said that 'they don't do specials on briquettes anymore as there's nothing to made on them'.

The Texaco petrol station down in the docks were doing some kind of deal there recently. I can't for the life of me remember the details though.

On this topic, I'm looking for some decent smokey coal (for the record, I live outside the exclusion zone and am not obliged to burn those incombustible ****e nuggets) out Barna/Spiddle direction.

Have a "firebird" boiler, does anyone know how much or many litres of oil would be used if heat left on for an hour?

Have a "firebird" boiler, does anyone know how much or many litres of oil would be used if heat left on for an hour?
    It varies on different factors:

What temperature the thermostat on the boiler is set to - the higher it's set to, the more oil you will burn. Even turning it down a small bit can save a lot on oil.

How many radiators are heated from your oil-burner - the higher the no of rads, the more oil you will use.

Has your oil-burner been serviced or checked recently?

Have you bled your radiators recently - this won't affect the oil-consumption too much but it's better to have them air free.

Edit: - If you ask in the Boards Plumbing & Heating Forum you will get a better answer.

    Temp is at 25
All radiators have been bled and we have about 7 or 8 turned off, Boiler has been serviced, not due another service till next year

My sister in law was just telling us me she paid 400 euro to Corrib oil today for 500 litres.

The in laws are always discussing the price of oil and petrol/diesel.

I was on www.cheapestoil.ie earlier which is handy as some comapnies show their prices. However, I noticed that prices shown on that site for some companies did not always match what was on their own websites. Has anyone else found that? I guess you can't be too careful, just letting people know
