If we can endure a few pages of pious homilies when one of our betters in the Irish political or media firmament kicks the bucket, why can't we pay respect to a man who indirectly lead the IRA down the political path in the 80s by putting the Armalite in the Armalite and ballot box stratagem?

I merged them, there was no need for two threads on the exact same topic.

    RIP this thread.

It felt righteous at the time, but now it's moribund.

One was an RIP thread the other was a running commentary on "is he, isn't he dead". Would have been nice to have an RIP for aul Muammar, a lot of people wanted to pay their respects.

    RIP.

    Damn you Victor.

Armalite was easier to spell and complimented my rhetorical device.

I would have liked a separate thread but I'll be honest and say it would only be to prove the ridiculousness of the [condolences only] threads we get every time some famous person kicks it where you can't dare point out the negatives of said person. Too soon and respect the dead and all that crap.
