    Hey peeps!
Just wondering if you have any info on which art college you think would be best in terms of developing skill, atmosphere, and meeting new people etc..
I'm just a bit confused, not sure which one to go for, since most of them do a first year core before majoring in anything particular,I want to make sure I actually like the college and the course tongue.gif

    Thanks a mill!smile.gifbiggrin.gif

Will this be your first time applying through the CAO? If you haven't had interviews before now for a place in art college, it is very tough to get in without an extremely good portfolio due to the limited places. I went to the Crawford in Cork, and one thing I will say is that I regret having chosen that college. I don't think things have improved since I was there. The college was so badly run, place falling apart, at one stage I didn't see one tutor for over 2 months. I have heard brilliant reports on Galway. Limerick seems to be ok, but they really put alot of pressure on you, sometimes that's not a bad thing though.
What I'm trying to say is, if you are interested in doing Art in 3rd level, apply to all, as you may not get a place in your preferred choice.

I know a girl who studied there, she loved it! The college is very modern and well funded afaik.
Well, if you are spending the year doing a preparation course you should be fine. I did the same as I was unsure whether or not I really wanted to do Art or languages in college, I'm really happy I did in the end because it prepared me for the realities of art college, i.e. working in isolation, developing ideas, skills.
After 1st year, do you have any idea which area you would like to see yourself specialising in? Some colleges are better in specific areas. Limerick is great for design, crawford is great for sculpture and ceramics.
