    Yeah that'd be perfect.
I think Im going to have the socket itsself recessed back into a 50mm hole.
like in the bottom right of this DK cab.
    IMG_4196_zpsf133558f.jpg

Just to allow the stiff bit of the kettle lead to be inside and not poking out into the wall.
I ordered one of these to go behind the coin door too.
    http://www.arcadeshop.de/Power-Supply-Rocker-Switch-DPST-10-A_887.html

I might put a separate switch to turn the marquee on by its self.

In your expertise how would one wire up both of those to turn power to the cab on / off?

It all depends what you're powering in the cab.

Did you say you wanted a dual PC and jamma setup?

If it were just PC, you wouldn't need to mount the kettle connector to the cab - you could just line up the PC PSU with the back of the cab so the kettle lead connector goes through the cab straight into it.

If you want to power both jamma and a PCB, that's going to be a good deal trickier.

You'd need to have some sort of relay switch to change between powering the PC's PSU and the jamma harness.

Have you thought about controls by the way? If you want to have a PC and jamma setup simultaneously, you'll need to have your controls basically wired up twice. (JPAC to control panel & jamma harness to control panel)

And then further to that, there's the decisions as whether to go supergun or proper jamma harness.

A supergun will allow easier dual PC/Arcade PCBs (as the video from the supergun can go through a scaler like we discussed)

but you'll still have to wire up the controls twice. Some vogatek superguns come with controller wire terminals rather than controller sockets, that'd suit your project best.

Well I was just thinking of switching out the wiring for a full JAMMA interface, wiring that to a JAMMA switcher and changing the controls from the PC to a JPac.

I think the JPac should have a built in CGA > VGA adapter too. I'll also need a dual VGA cable in there somewhere.

I have yet to decide if I'm actually going to do this or not, I do definately want to built a proper coin mech into it though when my pedastil gets here.

Ahhh a jamma switcher! That's a great idea. You can get one with two inputs, so one could be for game pcbs and the other your jpac. That solves the control wiring issue :)

You'd just need to figure out then how to get video from your jamma boards to the LCD monitor. (the PC could go through the jpac's VGA out as you said)

Edit; this does seem like a colossal amount of effort and expense for something which probably won't produce much of a useful result. If you have Hyperspin in there already you more than likely won't use a single jamma pcb.

I'd focus your efforts mainly on putting a really nice CRT in there instead. Improvement/costs wise, that would yield greater results :)

I've already measured it and a CRT definately won't fit so that's out.

The main reason I want a JAMMA PCB in there in the first place is because I want to play Tekken Tag... which so far hasn't been emulated properly. It is 100% speed wise but the sound hasn't been fully emulated yet as the decryption isn't up to full speed.

    ........or something like that.

I loved Tekken Tag as a kid so there's alot of nostalgia there for me. I WANT TEKKEN TAG AND I'M WILLING TO GO TO A RIDICULOUS EXPENSE TO GET IT DAMMIT.

PS2 emulation is also unfeasible due to cost of equipment needed to emulate it.

Another less fancy (but cheap!) option is whacking a real, decased slim PS2 in there and wiring the controls up to the arcade stick and buttons.

If Its just for one game sure you wouldnt even need access to the disc tray. So it would be invisible.

    THAT...

Is not a bad idea! I do have a slim PS2 that I barely use... the encoder I use works on the PS3 too. Wonder if it'll work on the PS2...

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,216 ✭✭✭MrVestek

Wait... how could I have both wired to PS2 and the PC at the same time?

    Hrmmm...

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,216 ✭✭✭MrVestek

Then I have to consider splitting the VGA between the PS2 and the PC and trying to somehow make the sound and controls work at the same time and.

**** it... this probably isn't worth it just to play one game.

Ps2 to sync strike, sync strike to scaler, scaler VGA out to LCD.

    Where there's a will there's a way :D

This is all starting to sound like more hassle than it's worth.

Does the power cable go to a socket like that on a DK cab?

I don't think any of my cabs have ever had one of them. They all just have a cable fed through a hole in the back which connects up to the power circuit.

No it doesnt but I want to do it this way,
My 3 have the C14 socket on them!

So i have a fully working MK2 board for my MK2 cab. heres a quick vid.. got the negatron off francob along with a voltmeter.

Cant get that video to work, anyways...

Some nice Japanese cabs for sale in France over on AO.

Most of it's fairly expensive though (€1800 for a cute )

    http://forum.arcadeotaku.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=26545

Nice Astro though for a decent enough price.

Think I've seen that user on some other forum too. Seems to be trying the import game like Ronnie all be it on a smaller scale.

Finaly got around to fixing the fan on my blast city last night.
It was always loud so a while back I put a good quality PC fan in the PSU.
Well turns out the fan was louder than the busted one I took out because it runs at full pelt all the time!
So I stuck a 100ohm resister in circuit with it and its perfect.
good air flow and no noise.
    very happy

Did a bit of fine tuning on the monitor too.looking sweet as ****.
Been playing Brave Blade on the GNET in it,
not a bad game. Its no gargregga tho!
But the monitor will be going hori later.
I got a second neo geo main board and two copies of league bowling so am going to set up a link up.
Few friends coming around at the weekend for a bit of a turni!

I installed an LED lightbar in my AWSD the other day, seems a little dim though, like myself, but it'll do until I pickup something stronger, or a proper replacement fluorescent tube for it.

Tried installing a new MAME.bin but I didn't see any Cave emulation improvement, I may be looking at a new PC for the whole damn thing, we shall see.
Sadly, such money is also demanded by a dozen other matters!

    Oh yeah ciderman?
where did you get the light bar?
The light in the blast is seriously bright.
Could do with being dimmer, like myself!

Been thinking about getting mame into my Naomi.
Having problems with the Dimm board in it I think so if it is shot I'll be getting a JVS pac for it.
