I have same problem as keith
but mine is LEFT to Right is problem, cant get Horizontal to fully fit.

I presume its limitation with Either hardware sending picture or
Limitation of Monitor itself. In My case naomi 2 and 29e31s 31K Monitor.

Its really annoying especially with Fighting games like SF,
as easy see players health bar is being cut off. Adjusting pots only helps a bit.
Being meaning to google it but if anyone knows cause, happy to listen :)

Mine is actually cutting off top, bottom and left and right now that i look at it.

Lads if the top and bottom of a game in a jamma cab is being cut off, as in part of the game on top is off screen, how do i fix that? I tried twisting pots on the back of the monitor, it moves horizontal, vertical, goes flicky, brightens up etc but cant seem to resize the picture so it fits on screen?

Normally you fix that kind of problem using H.Size and V.Size pots, they increase/decrease the horizontal and vertical size of the image. Among other pots you'd also have H.Pos and V.Pos pots to adjust the position. Not sure if your cab has those size related pots?

I definatly have the horizontal and vertical position, just dont see the size one. maybe logie will know if he reads this, its the cab i got off him the weekend.

On mine ya Ive tried all the Pots, H.Size and V.Size and H.Pos v.Pos,

But cannot get it to show 100% of Screen that it should.
some games are fine, depending on Game's layout,
but for ones like Street fighter you can make it bareable
but still pain in the ass not having 100% of screen :)

Must try TEST on it see how much of bars of GRID are showing.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,393 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

how do you do a test thing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 697 ✭✭✭kevin2me

Just Press Test Button, usually were you COIN Up Button is depending on the Cab.
Mine has TEST, Service 1, Service 2, Vol Upa nd Down for instance.

Then in there might have to scroll down to Monitor Test Part.
then few screens to help TEST Colors and Grid and such, like below.
one with BLUE lines shows farthest area the screen can stretch too.
So should show complete Blue scquare around outside.

Ya inside the cab, usually inside the COIN door.
or naomis and such the under CP.
If can google PDF for your style cab, they can be handy too.

I doubt i have that to be honest, its a generic wooden cab not a naomi or anything.

Every cab ive ever seen has one, I bet u have one.
Jamma, Sega model 2 cabs, naomi, Candys etc.

Should be easy to spot, but cant see it easy, you could always trace it from jamma side too, http://www.jammaboards.com/jcenter_jamma_pinout.html

The TEST SWITCH will active when a ground is applied on the test switch wire. If the arcade board you have connected uses the 'TEST' function, it will usually activate a test function that checks the on-board circuits/ROM's/etc.

The SERVICE SWITCH is just like the Test switch, except it will usually enter the internal board settings similar to a computers BIOS.

I fixed it a bit there just messing with it. seems to have a pot that sorts out the top and bottom, but none thats sorts out the left and right.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 2,975 Mod ✭✭✭✭LoGiE

    Hey,

I can't remember having that problem but the monitor will have the facility. I seem to remember finding the monitor manual online so do a search for it.

cheers i have it mostly sorted now by messing around with those knobs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 616 ✭✭✭Casey120

Those two pots on the flyback are screen volt and focus , screen volt is used as the primary brightness but leave it alone if your picture is vibrant enough , focus is exactly what it says it is , you will need a mirror placed in front of the screen or someone to help you to change these settings and see the changes .

Both my cabs have an Wide and Small ( W and S )horizontal setting on the chassis by changing one wire from the W to the S marked pin header , for newer CAVE games I need to put them on the small setting or else the picture is just to big for the screen even if I turn the horizontal size coil all the way down , for an older game like Raiden or Viper Phase 1 I will have to change it to the wide setting and turn the coil up or the screen isn't fully used .

ahh, ill have to check for this, see if there is anything on the chassis, could be set on wide alright if its there. thanks for all the info, learning a lot here.

Ever spend so long adjusting pots on a monitor that you forget what the picture looks like when it's correct? Happened to me the other day.

It's still not 100% correct - before it was too dim, so I tried to lighten it up - which washed out the colours. So I increased the contrast and the colour pots, now it's too bright and makes me nauseous!

Wish I'd found this step by step guide before putting the cab back in the corner.

I used that and a big mirror for both my cabs , My Aero gave a dull picture that turned into a nice vibrant one after that guide .

I've just spent an hour cleaning the inside of my cab and adjusting the pots. Mercifully I've got a board just under the control panel. The focus on the other hand requires the girlfriends assistance.

I'm going to clean the glass tomorrow but has anyone got a few tips on giving the bezel a spit shine?

Be very carefull with the 60-1 boards as there usually complete crap. They wont run the games at the correct speed.

I have a 60 in 1 and think they are alright for the money apart from some sound problems on a couple of games , speed is pretty good on most .

Frothmeister is selling them for 45 Pounds delivered on Jamma+ now .

It's Happy fish that are the terrible ones with speed problems on a lot of games , the 2012 transformers pink version is even worse .

A better buy is the new 2012 Arcadebox , now 740 in 1 instead of the usual 450 .
There's a test topic on Jamma+ for multi boards .

Oh yeah? Crap :( I read somewhere that the 302 version was improved. Also saw that it rotates all the vertical games so you can play them on a horizontal display with bars down each side.

So can i just take out the screen and rotate it so its vertical?

If the cab allows for it yes but not every cab has a monitor that can be rotated , be careful with the neck-board .
I always unplug the power cord and monitor amp connectors just to be sure .

The 60 in 1 from Jamma+ is the exact same one as sold by Gremlin only £24,- cheaper .

How will i know it can be rotated, is it just a matter of lifting it out and if the whole thing rotates and fits back in then i do?

Do you have a link to the 60in1 from jamma+ ?

    Thanks

    What cab is it ?
A friend of mine has a woody general Jamma cab with a monitor on a square wooden board that can rotate .

Weird issue with my monitor which I've only really noticed after turning the brightness up a good bit - shadow bars on the horizontal.

If something bright moves up the horizontal (say bullets from a ship in a vertical shmup), you get a horizontal shadow line the whole way across the screen.

Anyone know what might cause this? Bad cap maybe? I think I'll try dimming the monitor down again to see if it makes much of a difference.

What's with the plug on the coin mech outer? Does that go to the JAMMA loom to control credit registration?

Do you mean this kind of thing? http://www.arcadeshop.de/Microswitches-Coin-Switch_442.html

Yes it's for registering coins/credits. Haven't looked at my setup in ages but pretty sure it eventually leads back to the cab's jamma harness that connects to your PCB.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Yep, i think that is it. I shall check tonight and see where it terminates. Cheers. :)

It also connects to the coin counter under the mech doesn't it?

Good point. I'm going to check that tonight. I'm hoping I haven't got wiring to do...

I got a ¥100 coin mech today, i followed the AO wiki guide to adjust the mech (I have the same model), but the ¥100 coin still falls out of the coin return shoot rather than dropping in to the coin bucket.

Any ideas what's going on? I'm stumped, I've tried all the adjustments. :(

It's the AD-81P2, same as the AO Wiki photo. I also have an AD-81P which is for HK$ which I'm not using.

Nice job mate .Always loved the look of the SF.CE edition cab.

The VF2 one looks great as well. Nice clean job.
    What's it running?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,393 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

Ive a 60in1 pcb in that at the minute. currently the monitor in the street fighter 2 one isnt working!

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 2,975 Mod ✭✭✭✭LoGiE

That looks great! Where did you order the artwork?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,393 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

Got the files myself online and resized to fit the cabs. A friend of mine works for a Design company, they do signs i think. He printed them all off for me for nothing. They are all printed vinyl i think he said it was, with adhesive on the back. great quality too, i couldnt believe it. When i built the first cab, and was talking about how much the artwork cost on it, he couldnt believe it. he can get a certain amount printed himself in the job so was good enough to print them off for me.

If anyone has any arcade artwork that's not available in vector format(as in its a bmp or jpg etc) but wants/needs it as a vector I'm doing a load of conversions this evening so just let me know and I'll see if I can do it for you.

Sometimes the conversions are only ok but sometimes they turn out really well.
I don't use any auto conversion software or anything like that as it just ends up nasty. I do it mostly manually and using scripts and its pretty quick.
