Thanks for going easy on me.

    Order of preference.
    1. Tales from the crypt.
    2. Whitewater
    3. Roadshow
    4. Getaway

On another sidenote that DK cab is gorgeous. You may sell it for yet more pins.

I'm not too fond of the front of the cab with the Delorean, too much blank space and it looks out of place, but the rest of the cab is nice.

I think his Star Wars Bartop is fantastic looking...

Well the chassis has gone under the knife. Blown caps replaced and dodgy solder joints fixed.

Apparently the picture is lovely on it. I almost have me pony back!

Well this all seems rather excessive. :pac:

Pony not quite there yet, there's a green tint to the whole picture. I'm sure I just need to seat an RGB cable down a bit more or something.

Apart from that it looks gorgeous, it mother****ing works!!!! :pac:

Blurry pictures but you get the idea, glow is amazing.

I didn't fully realise just how big it was until I put it on top of that cab.

You just need to get a bigger cab :)

Damn, should have gone for one of those Run DMD thingies when they were going :(

You can still get them, you can order them on their website now, one of the lads in work got one after seeing mine, the only thing not available on the site is the perspex case, but the design plans for it are available and you can get it cut yourself.

Sweet, what's the site? Are the case plans on that site as well?

    Here it is..

    http://run-dmd.com/

Not sure what that EXP One is, i dont have that or the ICSP Socket.

Its the rundmd pcb you need, two dmd displays, info on them in the faq section and a psu

Then the francob frame cad files are available to download on the front page, it says out of stock but if you click that you can download the file.

EDIT: Looks like the EXP One is an expansion board if you want to use the remote control for the menus, i dont have that, you access the menu using buttons on the rundmd pcb.

Also if you are getting one and want to be able to change the colours of the display get the dual colour dmd displays. the single colour is just amber. which i use anyways, but nice to have the option.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,876 ✭✭✭Steve X2

    Nice one :)
So, am I limited to 2 displays on this? Or can I daisy chain them and have 4/8 etc?
I know nothing about it sort from it looks awesome :)

I think this DMD is built for just two displays but there is a whole forum on it, im sure lads are messing around making it do new things, mine is packed away at the minute until i get my attic done, but i think there is a new update to the animations from when i bought it.

You could make your own case for it, i bought my case off francob when he did his last run and its top quality. If you do use his plans for it you wont be disappointed, i think the forum thread has links to where he got them made up and you just email those guys and they will do it, it will probably be a bit more expensive because he was doing it in bulk.

Fixed! (don't mind the lines down the middle, that's my camera being an arse)

    IMG_20150618_233329828_zpsfeubw02n.jpg

Turns out the pots directly on the chassis were what was off (there was me twiddling with the remote board like a tool!). Grant was using it with a Sanwa tube so the settings were totally different. Annoying thing about these pots, you can't see the labels on them. So it's blind fiddling (!)

Holy ****ing ****. Dat picture. I was only thinking yesterday how beautiful the SNK's picture was beside the garbled Pony mess - but now Mr. Jaleco is out in front.

All the monitor defects previously in the picture (there was shadowing and what I thought was a bit of screen burn) are now gone too. It's perfection.

There really is nothing quite like the joy of hearing multiple cabs running at once. Best sound in the world.

I may have to host a beers in July..:D

Thanks for the info dude. I’ve decided to get enough parts to make 3 or 4 of these (with FrancoB style cases). I’m sure my brother will want one when he sees them, and it will save me having to re-order more parts. It looks like the easy part is going to be the Run DMD itself, with getting the case being the main issue.
I’ve got the info for the FrancoB case, but I’d rather get it cut in Ireland if possible. Does anyone know a good place or person who can cut acrylic(laser cut I assume)?

Now, on the animations themselves, it looks like someone is compiling them and releaseing this image to burn to the RUN DMD SD card. Is there any way to make my own animations? I can’t find anything about that side of things online.
It’d be pretty cool if you could do up your own animations for the games room etc, it would be awesome in fact :)

I have a laser in work.
I've no material at the moment tho.
What thickness is the franco frames?
I need to order some 3mm stuff.

Would be kinda pointless if you couldn't create your own or at least have a community creating new (possibly copyright infringing) ones ?

Reckon a brush aluminium case would look fantastic with this.
