Wish I didnt reply to it as one lad keeps annoying about how they are english cabs and they coming home

I was so close to saying we keep 26 cabs and ye take 6 that aren't yours. We all know how that worked out ... Eire Abu!

On more positive note I got myself a Triforce today for F-Zero AX and Virtua Striker 2002.

Also got HoTD2 hacked rom for Naomi up and running and got Ghost Squad, Virtual Cop 3 and House of the Dead 3 up and running on my Chihiro 3. HotD3 was fun as I had to use a HEX editor to hack it to load as rom requires Chihiro 1 normally. Happy days chuffed to bits, fantastic games...

Who was that the world famous ‘Sky skipper Chunkie Egg?’ Lol

Well I didn't get any cabinets. And I wouldn't mind anyone saying they got great deals, in fact I wouldn't mind anyone claiming anything, I know the story. Sounds like somethings going down on Facebook, glad I'm not on it :p

So could you tell us the full story then? Iam sure there’s enough folks interested to hear what went down and how this came about..

Well I have no clue what's being said elsewhere, but it sounds heated!

So it's for the best to just leave it for a while and let things calm down, because anything I say is bound to be used as fuel :p I love losing the rag about stuff, but I'll keep it cool, no drama etc.

Unless I suffer sudden amnesia it'll be grand :)

Ive seen some of the prices at that raid..... I'd take a good guess that none of us here would have dropped the cash for what they went for. I know I wouldn't have been in any position to anyway

Maybe but the option would have been nice, I was looking at importing a red tent from the states lately, ken has one on Ukvac at the moment and was working out at 2k + to get it to uK, then delivery to Ireland on top of that, so 1500 would have been a no brainer and in current market it’s a good price, all you have to do is check what stuff is going for on eBay, outrun is hitting almost 2k now, Star Wars and others even more..

Ah yeah but it's unfortunately like any collecting scene these days....money talks ( or doesn't talk) and the lads in the UK look to have some deep pockets. That UK arcade club must be making a killing. Sure come January 29th that will be the end of anything going over to the UK from here :p

Just always remember lads....this is a public forum and the walls have ears

Iam not so sure about Arcade club cleaning up its more about hoovering up but that’s a different story and as you said the walls have ears.. still crazy when you see people here posting wanted ads, running kickstarters for arcade clubs/bars over here, importing cabs/pins from the uK/states, fitting generic woodies with lcds and Pandora’s and literally a couple of hours away there’s a warehouse full of cabs being loaded up and shipped abroad..

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,787 ✭✭✭beejee

    I take it that’s a no then ...

For now it's the best thing to say nowt to avoid drama.

That said, you mention that there are people here trying to get machines, yet there are machines here getting sent abroad. Well... They might be one and the same.

Well I dont know him and theres prob two sides to every story.
He reached out when I responded to a comment about him on FB post and tbh sorry I did post that, it wasnt my place as I dont know any of stories, I've no beef with him or anyone, and he seems like a decent guy, so maybe we all deserve and chance or to have the full stories told before judgement.

And let's be honest arcade cabs are faulty, hard to maintain and especially hard to broker big deals, especially as they're so rare. Large deals with many people involved can get complicated fast especially as we get very passionate about cabs etc.

Heck I've bought and sold cabs that broke 24 hours later, but that's nature of the game when dealing with 30 year old machines.

Anyways I was merely sad like the rest of ye to see so many cabs leaving Ireland.

He was part of the forums for years and was OK for the most part but screwed a lot of people over, thread carefully is all I say .
None of the issues were to do with the cabs that came in either I can't even remember the half of it now TBH . He dug his own hole and dealt with it wrongly and yes there is 2 sides to every story but his kept changing his lol

Well I need some extra wires to bypass a stupid calibration screen but it boots that far at least for now, so while im waiting on that I have netdimm Outrun2 Beta to try Birds state view modes, you need to enable Continues Allowed option. It's very cool...

Always have the option to change or replace a cab though and pass it on to someone else, my setup is very different to what it was 2 or 3 years ago.. and there’s always room for one more especially when something nice comes along, no matter where or who the cabs went too at least If they were in Ireland they’d stay in rotation and are passed on/resold when people get bored of them particularly the dedicated cabs, such as the op wolfs/thunderbolt/afterburners etc once they leave the shores their not coming back .. same for the pins, the real vs emulation debate I guess there’s pro and cons and some stuff is emulated really well and some not so well but personally there something really nice about having an original pcb for your favorite games..also I find if I have a mame/pi/pandora setup I spend more time flicking through stuff than playing games and don’t spend any substantial amount of time on one particular title whereas if I have the board I’ll spend time getting better at it. As for boards being fragile I guess some are more robust than others but you really shouldn’t be afraid to change a pcb for fear of damaging it..
this 100% , I got into this for the hardware ,cabs ,art, and dedicated machines. Not to run Mame or a PC it's just not for me .. I know people are happy with that and that's fine but I've never wanted anything but the hardware, **** I even struggle with accepting Naomi stuff as its on CD lol..
My setups have changed so much over the years but in recent times has stayed static enough as I'm happy with it except I'm missing some things I'd like but can't afford ,I could always find room for more... so I can dream still !!!! also stuff doesn't seem to move around as much as it used to.

in fairness, the info was posted here several times over the years so anyone could have tried. I myself tried to buy a few cabs/boards chatting to the op last year but prices where on par with ebay (and all untested) and had no room so let it go.

dave09 (limerick barcade) read that post and he was the only one from Ireland that did something about the info.

I'll miss having a few games of outrun when next in skerries but hopefully the limerick barcade got it and gets the them all refurbed and playable for all to enjoy again.
