Definitely, they look great. Stick a VGA monitor in there and you can have anything you want on it. Before I put the Dreamcast in, I had a lappy running. Was good craic using google Earth/Maps. You feel like you're plotting out a war campaign.

Was also cool for Dayz to have the map easily accessible.

I want to get some smoked glass for my one so you can't see the bezel outline.

You can't get that particular IKEA unit anymore (Ramvik) but Ciderman is getting rid of his.

Anyone recommend a better ikea cabinet than ramvik?
Also i ordered a Raspberry Pi for the tiny credit card size PC.

There's quite a lot of space in the drawer. I fit a NC10 netbook in grand.

Rasp Pi would be great to have in it though. How's MAME hold up on that now?

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,722 ✭✭✭The Last Bandit

Mame is still pretty sketchy on the RaspPi I think.

One of those VGA compatible jamma multigame boards would be a good fit though.

Having awful trouble setting my one up as a supergun. Getting some interference across the screen which I can't get rid of.

The supergun doesn't give interference on the TV.

The scaler doesn't give interference on the VGA monitor in the IKEA cab.

But when I run the supergun through the scaler the interference appears.

There's a little fingerboard which takes the video signal out of the supergun, sends it through a few wires over to the RGB input on the scaler. Not sure if there's a bad solder joint on one of them or what's goin on.

Are those rgb wires shielded or are the wires from the power supply running near or over any chips on the scaler board ?

Ya its a pity they make those cabinet anymore, great value they were !!

Interesting! Thanks for that. Never dawned on me that the PSU could be the culprit. The picture appears fine, you just get that wavy interference as if something isn't grounded.

The power supply is mounted on the bottom of the unit along with the scaler and supergun on the bottom too. The RGB wires themselves are just out in the open, so the only shielding would be the wire insulation.

Maybe I need to build some kind of little box to put it all in.

Would it be possible to stick a bigger monitor into one of the Trimline cabs?
The existing one seems quite small but easy to replace, though would necessitate cutting down the bezel and putting in a new mount.

Looking at this Space Harrier cab and serial tag says it was made in Ireland, didn't realise Sega had a factory over here ?

Here is an update on these cabs, cleaned them off. The look a lot better. The inside etc will still need to be cleaned out on them. My house smells like old right now. I cant sell any of these at the minute, as i have to talk to the guy i bought them with first to decide whats going and whats staying. when i figure that out ill put up a thread in the social section we have here to see what interest is like. after that they are going on adverts.

3 Taito Minis left. All 3 of these have monitors, dunno if they are working i havent plugged them in, i dont think they have plugs on them at the minute.

    IMG_4331.jpg
This one has no monitor in it or game, but i think there is a jamma harness and power supply in it.

    IMG_4329.jpg
Phoenix Cab has a monitor, i plugged this in and it powers on, there is a game in it but its definitaly not working, one or two of the bits on the game have rusted off. the monitor works though.

    IMG_4325.jpg

This cab works perfect, there was no game in it, but i stuck in one i had and as you can see the monitor works. its set for vertical at the minute, my Donkey Kong style cab is the same one as this and the monitor can be rotated.

So I got the Taito x2 games and loader up and running. Seems ok on my limited testing.

Anyone try integrate it into Hyperspin yet?

    Do those 60-1's save scores?

They save only the top score and they don't save initials unfortunately. when you turn off and back on it will have your top score but the initial space is blank.

    Nice,
I'm guessing the screen surround and marquee holder were white at some stage?
