I'd love Ibara but the cave SH3 boards don't work right through my namco - jamma converter. booooomba!

What kind of cab are you running to need a namco - Jamma converter? You don't have some mad obscure Namco candy do you?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,076 ✭✭✭safetyboy

Sega new net city. Its JVS so need the converter. The games play fine, Its just the sound is very tinny. some other issues noted here, http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Namco_JVS_to_JAMMA_Adaptor

I may have to sell my Mushi pcb :( or get a second cab :)

Not sure which one safetyboy has :)

Was going to see if he was interested in trading some PCBs - unless of course it was worth the same price as Ketsui or something :D

Had a feeling it might be about that!

I think I may look into getting my 360 working through JAMMA. Cave PCBs are just too expensive to collect. Ibara is probably about the height I could go expense wise :(

Ibara/Galuda/Mushi and DOJ have PS2 ports.

So if you got one of the PS2 to Jamma adapters on this page you could play the four of them. - saves having to sort out 360 pad hacks.

Just sent the guy an email to see if he has any left.

Having a hell of a time getting my ROMs recognised in Hyper spin. Anybody got any experience with getting existing tom sets up and running?

Welcome to the joys of Hyperspin :)
I spent what seems like an eternity fixing my setup to be just the way I want it. A bit of custom artwork, custom scripting and it's a thing of tacky beauty :D

I think I'll stick with Maximus Arcade for now, Hyperspin is too much of a cluster feck.

Not sure where to start with this cab restoration
Internal, external, electronics etc. I want to do it all in one go but that's just unrealistic.
    Experts, what say yee???

Monitor! Without that you just have a wooden box and componants.

Going to fix or replace? Whack in one of those mini tri syncs jeff has ;)

Jeff at digitalsystemsdesign where some candy cabs come from. If you search for his ebay account he usually has them lised.

FrancoB got one for a Mushiking cab over on AO and they look the business. 14 or 15 inch I think?

Would link ya but am on my phone!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

I think sticking a mini tri-sync in one of these is the equivalent of putting a Ferrari engine into a Renault Megane :D The cabs are just battle worn, & you'd easily overspend on them whereby such money would almost, or if not, buy you a whole other cab.

But, to answer the question. I'm going to start with the electrics, rip out those old type power supplies, brand new jamma looms & modern type psu's. New sticks & buttons, & get a bog standard crt running away then.

After that, some of the wood panels in mine need replacing, I'll put vinyls on them too possibly, & thats basically it. My plan is to have one dedicated to an old school vert shmup, & the other possibly MVS...

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,876 ✭✭✭Steve X2

Yeah, pretty darn pricey for those mini trisyncs.
http://www.ebay.ie/itm/170686917875 (291 Euro not inc shipping).

I think I'll look into a cheaper option to replace the electronics etc. Where would i find a normal arcade crt of that size anyway?

On an arcade related note, I'm trying to get this Taito F3 to work again on my cab and it just wont play ball. I've had this ages and never got it working so I really want to decide if its knackered or just needs something simple done to it.
When I attach it to the JAMMA connector on my cab and power on a red LED on the cab PSU starts to flash on and off (its normally solid on with the rest of my pcb's etc). It's the same with a game attach to the F3 or if its just the motherboard itself.
There's just one pot on the f3 and that's to adjust the voltage that goes to the board (I think) and everywhere i read that I should not touch this and in fact its been glued over to stop any adjustments.

Here's a vid of the problem (sorry, crappy quality and a bit shaky) :

    Don't encourage the sickness :o:pac:
I was already trying to justify buying one of those mini trisyncs to myself :o
