Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They are forced to do this. Al Sadr, the most powerful man in Iraq, has given them untill December.

Have not come across that, have you a source please?

Most commentators seem to view the failure to guarantee immunity to US forces from prosecution after Dec 2011 as a major stumbling block to any continued US military presence. That being said, there will still be a relatively large contingent of US diplomatic staff, some military trainers and of course contractors remaining in theatre with no immediate plan for their withdrawal any time soon.
