Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to announce that on 14th Jan 2012 we will be holding the CAGE CONTENDER AWARDS!

The event will consist of Dinner & Awards Ceremony followed by a live band. And it's all FREE! Every fighter who fought on CC in 2011 will be receiving a ticket plus a guest ticket, on top of that every club that had fighters on CC will receive 3 tickets too.

The nominations in each catagorey will be announced in due course and the winners will be chosen by the Cage Contender panel. The panel is John Ferguson, Dave Jones, Peter Lavery, Barry Oglesby, Stuart McQuitty and Bret "Hollywood" Freeman. There will be one public vote award and a fighters fighter of the year which will be done by ballot on the night.

This is a small way for us to say thank you for your continued support and get everyone together from a nights craic without the usual pressure of an event

Further details will follow this week!!

How about one of the categories being voted for by us here on the MMA forum? Maybe just 33% if the vote for that category coming from here with 1 of the voters winning a pair of tickets?

    Just an idea

There will be a Boards.ie featured award just like last year! We will announce it with the others.

It's funny how things happen, I invited boards.ie to do an award last year at the Fight.ie awards and boards founder/director Tom Murphy (DeVore) and site manager Dev came along to present it. One year on Tom is now the second largest share holder in Ferguson Sports Group

Just for the sake of clarity, is the breakthrough fighter of the year reserved for Pro fighters or are C-class fighters included.

There have been some impressive performances by a few amateur guys and I'm looking forward to seeing them turn pro. Karl Moore, Peter Quelly and Alan Cocoran spring to mind.

    Good point :)

Break through fighter of the year is for any fighter who has made their CC debut that year regardless of being Pro (A Class) Semi Pro (B Class) or Am (C Class)

We have added an additional award to cover non pro fighters. Full catagories and nominations are due out on Thursday of this week.

That's a nice segway for an interview the man himself, MMA announcer Bret "Hollywood" Freeman from last night at the Cage Contender awards!

    "IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITS GO TIME!"

In the interview he talks Irish MMA, Alex Reid and his favourite fights and fighters

1st of severemma I removed your link which is spam, use this thread if want to post your links to your site.

On a side note I don't really see much relevance in interviewing an mc anyway, they call out names and interview fighters-could be a bingo caller as far as relevance goes.

    Paul

Just to clarify, if they embed the YouTube player of the interviews into the thread and boards users don't have to leave the forum to watch it am I correct in saying is it no longer spam?

spot on John, directing traffic to there own site is very different than trying to show us a video on here.
