Halogen Lamp Buzzing

My bedside halogen lamp sometimes buzzes like a hornet. It can be loud enough to wakes us up. Sometimes a few sharp taps will stop it. Should I try replacing the bulb – which has it been in it for years?

are you sure its the lamp and not the switch/dimmer?

either way you could consider changing it to an LED lamp
