Hi,

Im going to install a 4 camera cctv system in my home but have a couple of questions.

1. I was going to use cat5 for both power and video signals. is this ok or should i use coaxil aswel?

2. where in dublin is there a good cctv store or does anyone know a good one online?

Cat5 if fine but if wiring isn't an issue I'd use coax and a seperate cable for power or get the shotgun cable which is a power cable and coax combined.

I'd recommend Condor in Ballymount or Idas in dundrum. Ask for ken in Condor and Paul in Idas. Both lads are sound and will look after you.

Cat5 in fine for the cameras as long as the camera has a built in balun or enough space to fit one.

I have only heard good things about the twilight cams.
I haven't heard anything about the dvr

That's good to hear. With most IR cameras would you still need sensor lights to give decent picture?

It all depends, the ir on some cameras is so strong that the ir reflects off everything, faces, reg plates etc. The halogen light would sort this problem.
On the other hand some cameras, twilights included iirc, can compensate for this and adjust the ir accordingly
