    Hi all,

we're going to have a small gi tournament for White Belts only in our gym on November 19th. I hope you can all attend.

We had a few discussions on what to call this. Some wanted it to be called the Leddy classic but I vetoed it :). Instead I'm going to call it Grapplepalooza 2- the fight for the leftover medals.

The tournament will run in our gym, we have 2 rings. It will be a small affair, so we're going to limit entry for each division. You will be guaranteed 2 fights as we will run a repechage system.

Price for entry will be €15. More details on how to enter will be released when Tom feels it is time!

    Barry

Would sundays not be a better day for these tournaments.

I'm biased cos I have to work every saturday and can never enter any but i'd say there are a good few more like me.

Its 64kg because you weigh in with the Gi on. Gis weigh around 2kg.

    Hi Luke,

Yes there will be an U16 division. We'll split based on age and weight on the day.

Anyone 17 years and up can compete as an adult.

I'll add an U16 option to the form tonight.

    Regards

Entry form amended to include Teenager U16 division :D

How is the number for the teens Barry? Should have around 10 from SBG, hopefully they've all registered, but do you think there will be enough entrants for a few divisions?

It's Tom's baby but I just checked the entry list and there's a total of 6 teens. My teens haven't registered yet but there'll be 4 or 5 of those. Depending on size and weight I'd imagine there'll be 2 divisions minimum.

  • Registered Users Posts: 145 ✭✭slammer187

Do you have a competitors list yet?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 2,917 ✭✭✭Barry.Oglesby

We do but there's no point in releasing it until next week. I can tell you so far there are 30 plus entrants which is about 50% of what we want.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,441 ✭✭✭Killme00

Entry closes at 12 noon next Friday. I'll have the brackets up that night.

    Get your entries in :D

Hey folks, only a few days away.

As this competition is for experience, we're going to allow people to move up a division should they miss their stated weight, HOWEVER since this competition is for experience, you should probably get used to hitting weight too :). There are around 45 entrants so far which is great. Keep them coming and pass this on to your club mates.

    Barry

Keep those entries coming in guys, only a few days left.

Also, please encourage your female club mates to compete.

Entry will close at lunchtime tomorrow. Get your entries in soon.

    Thanks

    Registration from ten.

I'll confirm with Barry tomorrow but I expect the first division to start at half ten/eleven at the latest. Divisions and start times of each division will be on display on the day so everyone will have plenty of time to warm up.

Any last minute entries need to be in before 2pm today. I'll put up the competitior list tonight and brackets will be displayed tomorrow.

    10am registration

We expect to start the first division at 10.30

We expect to be done by 2pm

    This is important!
There is NO ROOM for spectators. This is a small interclub so please don't bring your friend, yer ma, or the girl you're looking to impress.

There is some parking at the gym, but we'd prefer if you parked in Lidl, Woodies or slightly further into the industrial estate as we have some shops as our neighbours who depend on parking for business.

Lastly, there will be no medals distributed tomorrow thanks to a mix-up with the manufacturer, but they will be sent out on Monday instead.

Best of luck with this tomorrow to the guys organising and to the competitors. Hope it goes off without a hitch! Sickenend I can't compete.
