Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

If you want a lesson on why pre-registration and payment is a must in Ireland, a full 30% of people who registered failed to show this morning. Tom was going to draw up brackets on Friday night but I told him not to since I expected anywhere between a 25% and 50% now show rate. I once organised a pre-reg tournament where 70% of registrants failed to appear. So please, next time an organiser wants you to pony up early, remember today.

That being said, this was a great success. We're delighted to have hosted it and if everyone is willing we'll do it again in 6 months.

All today was the brainchild and organisational baby of Tom Dargle. It certainly makes a change from the food babies he usually leaves in the gym jacks.

Some stand outs for me were Sam McNally and my lad Nate Kelly.

Thanks Tom and Barry this was a very enjoyable competition and I'm sure everyone who turned up was more than happy with the event. I was glad to see at least one other old guy competing on the day too :)

Hopefully any future one will get even better support as it would be a great way for guys to have a crack at competing if they haven't yet. Competitions like this are also a nice addition to the calendar for those of us who have and it would be great to see more clubs get involved and maybe even host their own White Belt comps.

Thanks to all competitors and coaches who were there today. The standard of competition was excellent and it was great to see such competitive matches being fought at this level. Congratulations to all medalists.

I think this was a great way for Whitebelts to gain valuable experience in a competition environment. As such we plan on running this again twice next year, once between Jan and June and again between July and December.

We will announce the dates once I have seen the calendar for the major 2012 events (Irish Open, Closed, Munster, Northern Ireland, Dublin Open, Grapplepalooza).

Please let me know if you have any feedback. We will endeavour to take it all on board for the next one.

I thought it was a fantastic event. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly with the whole thing being very well run. It was a great experience (the straight ankle lock explanation was worth the trip itself!) and really looking forward to the next one.

Some of the younger guys showed amazing ability & skill. A real credit to their coaches.

Fantastic competition, everything was so well run! Did anyone happen to get any of the matches on video specifically the O Soto Gari in the lad with the camo gi's match...that was a savage throw :P

Really fun day all round (bar losing my final via testicle crush lol!)

I too would be interested in seeing that throw again! There was some good judo on show in a couple of other matches too.
