    Anyone know anywhere in Dundalk that sells cheap hdmi cables? I've already tried Boyds and the 2euro shop in the longwalk and the one beside the bus depot.

    Thanks to kbell for saving the day but otherwise you'd never get one at 10 quid as the all usually retail at 20 quid and upwards from there on. Again i could be wrong as price always depends upon the length of the lead itself not to mention quality too.

    There's some in PC World in the retail park for about €8. They sell decent two metre white one's for €20 and not so decent long black ones for €8.

    I'm all for value and reasonable pricing but there is a good reason I wont use Condoms from pound shops....

    Why go to all the expense of a HD TV and then use an inferior cable to link your two HD devices...

    While 20 quid is silly.... 2 quid is also silly but for different reasons.

    its a digital cable.,..it either works or it doesn't...

    There are loads of reports/tests online from reputable websites that for a standard length (1m, 3m, 5m) there is no difference between a cheap hdmi cable and a gold plated €100 cable...

    after a certain length (eg 50m) then a little bit loss comes into play...

    let me find the reports

    None of our editors could tell the difference. The fact is, HDMI is digital, meaning you either get the feed or you don't. High prices and gimmicks like gold-plating don't affect 1s and 0s. Our advice: Purchase your wiring online for cheap, and use the saved money to upgrade to a larger flat screen.

    I reckon the same scenario would apply...

    for smaller lengths there would be no difference anything over the norm might have issues :D:D

    you should be ok ;)

    There is also the grey area where they are not allowed to advertise the standard compliance of the cable on the packaging too.

    eg. 1.3, 1.4 etc as they felt this would confuse the consumer. if you look at the actual cable you will see it printed on it somewhere, likely 1.3 if cheap.

    1.4 is "allegedly" required for 3D capable stuff.
