I hope the whole game won't be a tutorial like GTA4.. "You can steal a car. Use the car to drive to X, and then press the fire button to shoot your gun". NO KIDDING?

Also would be nice to get a new city and not LA or NY again.

Washington DC, seems like a choice but I doubt Rockstar will go from one east coast city to the another. The weather, the colour palette, and everything else would be too similar. Also, DC is so flat. Doesn't seem right for a GTA. There's not even any skyscrappers me thinks.

The only way I see DC in a GTA is if it's one city out of two or three.

The first thing I seen when I saw the logo was Las Venturas. That city has so much to offer GTA. Beautiful scenery, lights, buildings, casinos and it's in a desert.

The logo can represent a few things. I could also reference Hip-Hop culture or Hollywood. You just don't know.

V could be for Vineland as in Hollywood in SA. Five being the name of the title.

I was reading an article earlier on (trying to source it again) and apparently the new GTA project has been codenamed "Rush", considering Los Angeles has serious Rush Hour issues it said it could be LA. The article is putting 2+2 together and getting 5 basically.

It also says that the city will no longer be fictitious and could represent a real Los Angeles.

A real-world L.A? I don't think so. It's not GTA. They had L.A. in San Andreas and it was fine. I don't see how putting the real names of places will do anything. They'd have real names of places and fake names of cars.

Yeah, it's just a lot of speculation and releatively old rumours but thanks for the link anyway.

Id say we will be in for a long wait. GTA IV was announced at E3 2006 and wasnt released until April 2008. Nearly 2 years later

if they wanted us to wait so long why didnt they just announce the thing at a conference

also SA released at the end of 2004 and we had gta 4 in april of 2008, and gta4 was a completely different game from SA from a technical standpoint, i think they have been working hard at keeping this games development a secret (even so remember that article on gamespot a while back that said rockstar where putting the finishing touches to gta5 )

Exactly how I feel.

GTA IV was a pile of pants imo. I bought it full price then sold it after a few weeks. This time around I'll be buying it as a second hand game but only if the reviews online and the experiences of boards.ie users is mostly positive.

The game takes itself far too seriously these days. I want crazy-stupid kill frenzies, cops that wait until you've at least killed a few people before showing up and fun missions that don't involve going from A to B to kill someone and then do it all over again every single mission. Bring back the fun.

ye do know that TBOGT had parachutes right? and a tank gta3 was similar to 4 in terms of craziness which was to be expected as 4 had to be built from the ground up (it used nothing from the gta3/vc/sa engine)

I hope the wait isn't as long as it was for IV.

Vice City would be a preferable setting to San Andreas. Perhaps we'll get a new setting, hopefully not a dreary real world one though, GTA is about escapism after all. Here's hoping planes return and a toy box like San Andreas with the styling of Vice City, playing the original was like taking a crime soaked holiday.

We'll only have to wait a short while to get an idea of what to expect, to be honest if it the trailers do nothing for me I might give this one a miss. More gangsta styled stuff doesn't interest me and I don't have the time anymore to persevere with games I'm not really into.

The V logo looks like a Euro note on the Rockstar website.

The reason for the long wait was the PS3 version wasn't up to scratch and took them extra time to get it on par with the xbox version, Sony had a deal in place with R* that the game wouldn't be released earlier on another console so it was delayed. Hopefully this means the game comes out before 2013 when they already have the problems with the new tech ironed out.

They also had to adjust the game so that Xbox owners wouldnt have to install it on their hard drive. Given its inferior disc usage capabilities (lack of blu ray)
