Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

NEED HELP ON NETWORK DOWNTIME

    Hi everybody,

    I am currently doing a report on network monitoring and came across a article on the web about the cost of network downtime I am just a bit confused. Here is the article

    With the two tables provided how could the heatlhcare be affect with its revenue and productivity? Just that hospitals sure is not revenue based or is it? And with the second table I dont really understand with the percentages represent? Just a bit confused and need a bit of clearing up if anyone can help. Thanks everybody

    Healthcare doesnt necessarily mean a hospital.

    Could be a doctors office, cosmetic surgey clinic, dentists ect..

    Revenue loss could be linked to website downtime, loss off bookings due to the booking system being down, also when computer systems are down staff need to work alot harder with less productivity which in turn will have financial losses associated.

    The Healthcare category includes manufacturing.

    If the manufacturing and ordering system is disconnected, a small pharma manufacturer could lose millions per day.

    The second table is stating that for, say, the high tech sector, they calculate that out of the losses they incur due to network problems
    15% are occurring when the company has a complete outage in a system (network completely down, Internet completely disconnected, hopefully fairly rare).
    85% are occurring where the network problems are intermittent, bad performance, customers having to redo work due to timeouts. (may be a more common problem due to underspecced hardware, unoptimal configuration, IT having problems sorting an issue )


    Though in the case of hospitals, if the hospital cannot access it's scheduling systems it might lose patients. If scans cannot be sent to another department to be analysed, operations may need to be cancelled and rescheduled at the last minute.
    And many hospitals depend on the throughput of patients for income (or to justify their continuing existence).
