    Hi Guys/Girls,

Would be grateful for some advice for an upgrade.

I am currently using a Kanger Protank II with the an added airflow device - been using this for the last year or so so thought it's time to upgrade.

    Was thinking of either the:

Kanger Subox Mini or the Kanger Subox Nano but not sure which or is there some other device that I should be looking at?

Would be grateful for your opinions/suggestions please and thank you.

What battery do you use at the moment?

Going from a protank to a subtank is like trading in a micra for golf gti, it's a pretty big jump.

The subox is meant to be pretty good, personally I use an i stick 30w with my subtank and it is fine.

Took my iStick 40TC apart cause I was bored and curious.

Looks like a 18650 battery in there. Should be up for a diy replacement when the time comes.

Just bought the istick 40W TC. Just wondering if anyone knows what tank I should use with it?

I use isticks for bedroom vaping with Nautilus's attached as they have never leaked on my bed.
The TC 40w now lives in the bedroom with a Nautilus & a Nickel coil,I have locked the resistance at 0.31 & set at 420F & it works very well, been using the same coil for over a month now, excellent for mouth to lungers, battery is far more superior than the other isticks,I think it's a 2600mah.
The TC 40 would work well with any Nickel build atty,no control on the ramp up speed,40w is the default setting, which is plenty for a Nautilus,I do like my subtanks running at 60w to 75w,that's just me...

what Nickel coils are you using for the Nautilus ?

I bought one of these for mouth to lung http://www.vaporium.eu/tanks-clearomizers/544-aspire-nautilus-temperature-sensing-coils.html

Only bought one, wasn't sure what it would be like in a Nautilus,as all other Nickel coils I use is lung hits only.
I think the Nickel is much better than the BVC coils, better taste & vapor, this may differ with different juices,I'm using all that cheap shcit from Liquid at a pound a bottle & it's so tasty, vaping Very Berry with the above coil & I can taste 5 or 6 berries in there.

    I use an 18500 on a ZNA with a .7ohm coil with no problems,I wouldn't go that low with a 18350.
What brand of battery is that mate?
I can only find the purple efests in flat top 18500 (15A).
Does a nipple top 18490 fit just as well?
I have a black zna that sits gathering dust, but I'd like to pair it up with a sub tank at .5ohm and around 25-30watts.

Triton is a nice bit of kit too I must say. Filling is a doddle and build quality is good, if maybe the metals feel a little thin. Using the .4 coil, SS I believe?
Good flavour, not quite Kayfun good but good. Airflow is just open enough for me with tank fully open and mouth peice closed. Mouth piece open and its basically dripper airflow. Have it on my iStick TC at 30w so far. Nice.

    IPV D2.
Got it 2 weeks ago and brought it on holidays last week.
Paired with a Kayfun V4 with .09ohm TC coil.
    It delivers - occasionally.
I think its the kayfuns fault though, I'm not convinced the thing is ever going to be good enough for TC, at least until I get the spring upgrade.
The D2 itself is nice, its heavy and solid feeling, good buttons and great battery cover that slides off, has magnets and a ball bearing to click into place. Satisfying.
A couple of times the thing stayed firing, which is a concern, maybe the button is dodgy, it hasn't happened for a week now, but it scared the sh1t out of me when it happened.
The biggest drawback is the finish though, theres a good reason they include a free rubber cover for it, the paint job is sh1t.
After a week of fairly vigorous use (it was my go to for the week, that and the ever reliable Atlantis v1 & Cloupor mini combo), carrying in pockets while walking about etc the paint has chipped in two places and has scratched up in a few others. You know those serrations around the edge of a Nikon camera lens? I bashed it one day and it left a loved three stripe gash in the paint work, down to the metal. It was cheap though, so you get what you pay for, having said that I would have happily paid €20 more for a robust paint finish.

It's an efest purple 18490 15a nipple top using a subtank with a .5 coil, although it reads .6 & vaping at 40w,been doing this for over a year now & no probs.

    Really?
I was afraid the efest wouldn't cope with the .5ohm subtank coil.
Thats it, I'm off to pick up a couple of them so!
    Cheers!
Its such a nice wee device and it looks terrible with the 650 tube on it, not to mention its a topple magnet.

    Nope, not a cent.
They will ask you for your paypal receipt or whatever, and they will attempt to charge you for An Post handing, I'd tell them to fk off.

I've also tried it with an IMR 18490 nipple with no trouble,I don't know what the amp load is,must be 2 or 3 years old, they were the dearest battery around at the time & still charging like a gooden.

I'm using a EGO-C Twist 1300mAh Variable Voltage Rechargeable Battery atm.

So your suggesting getting a Kanger Subtank Mini:

    http://www.e-smokeireland.eu/product-p/minisubtankk.htm

and using that with an istick 30w:

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10011027/2305003-authentic-eleaf-istick-30w-2200mah-variable

You say it is a big jump - do you think it's a bad idea to make this big jump? Are subtanks hard to get the hang off/replace the atomisers?

Really appreciate you advice/help, I'm a bit ignorant keeping up with it all.

    Thanks

Subtank Mini will be fine for you. When you buy one also buy a couple of the newer 1.5ohm coils (they don't come with the tank) as they'll be the nearest thing to what you've been used to. Set the airflow to its smallest setting as well.

Over time you'll adjust to the different style of vaping. Then you can work your way down to the 1.2 or 0.5 ohm coils if you want and open up the airflow as well.

Can you buy pre made coils for the suntank mini and make your own if you want ?

    Would a 20 w battery be enough for .5 and 1.2 coils ?

    Yeah, there you go...

    http://www.thebestshop.eu/shop/clearomizers/613-20pc-rba-coil-for-kanger-subtank-mini-and-subtank-plus.html

You can also make your own too.
Have them myself, there very handy. Think the .5 is rated for 15 - 60 watts, and 1.2 for 12 - 25 watts.

So just to make sure both of you, (you and Fratton) do not think that I should go for the Kanger Subox Mini or the Kanger Subox Nano?

And that I should upgrade to a subtank mini from the protank II that I have at the moment. ?

And change from the eGo-C Twist battery to an iStick 30w?

    Regards

    Hope this helps..

Started vaping three months ago on an istick 30w and haven't looked back. Originally got my istick with an Eleaf GS Air tank, but got a subtank mini soon afterwards. The flavour, and all round performance made me buy another one as soon as I could afford it.

The istick hasn't let me down either, so it's a good combo all round in my opinion.

Been looking up these subtanks this morning and need a bit of advise on them.

    The link below shows a subtank 4.5ml / 0.5ohm (15-30W) at 29.47 Euro

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/3006/10004861/2575800-authentic-kangertech-subtank-mini-clearomizer

and this link shows the same as above but at a price of 27.69 Euro

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/3006/10004861/2106401-authentic-kangertech-subtank-mini-clearomizer

So I can't see what the difference is between these two subtanks except the price - can you see the difference?

    In this link I see a subtank 4.5ml / 0.5ohm (15-60W) at 26.95 Euro

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/3006/10004861/2770000-authentic-kangertech-subtank-mini-clearomizer

So the difference that I see between the first two links and the third link is that the first two items have 15-30w and the third link shows 15-60w.

So which is better the 15-30w ones or the 15-60w?

    Thanks

The advice Trond gave above is, in my opinion, spot on.

If you go for the mini, you have the RBA option as well, should you wish. But definitely go for the 1.5ohm coils at first.

The only difference looks to be colour.

With regards wattage, I've been using sub ohm rebuildable heads on mine for months and never go over 22w, so for me, there's no difference between 30 and 60w as I wouldn't go near it anyway.

It's a bit like comparing a car that does 150mph with one that does 170mph.

So I should go for this one that says 15-60w over the 15-30w because it does not make a difference and is in fact cheaper:

and are these the right coils:

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10009412/2010102-authentic-kangertech-subtank-vertical-occ-coil

God bless your eye sight, I can't see a difference in the colour at all :)

    Cheers

The Subtank Mini that's listed as $29 is the V2 which is far better than V1.

You wont notice whilst using the stock coils but from the rebuildable (RBA section) point of view its miles ahead

    Thanks for that.

Just for my own learning, how does one know that this is V2 and then do I have to get special coils that I have to build myself/what coils do I use with it?

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/3006/10004861/2575800-authentic-kangertech-subtank-mini-clearomizer

and otherwise this one is fine and I can just use ordinary coils:

Sorry about all these questions, but you guys are experts and the terminology and technology can be a bit daunting for me.

I have both versions, the V1 has one cyclops airflow & the V2 have two cyclops airflows.
All subtank coils fits all subtanks...
