    Hi All

Just looking for the cheapest place to get a 37-42" LG/Philips/Samsung LCD HD-READY/FULL.

I'm looking for a proper brand, and I've seen PCworld/Currys with a 42" LG for 459euro Which is good, but can this be bettered? Amazon had it for £379 but of course no irish delivery.

Anyone have any good websites/bricks and mortar stores I havent thought about? Ive tried DID, Powercity, Xpert, Currys, PCWorld.

    Thanks

Luzern tech have a Philips 42 for 359 + 20e shipping. Seems good, its a refurb, are the items in brand new condition after re-furb does anyone know?

I know this crowd can be a mixed bag, the product may work, it may not.. Ive seen some bad reviews online and some good...

I was in Power City Coolmine last week and they have a fair few large screens on clearance/last one, that kind of thing. They normally don't list them on their website so it might be worth your while dropping in for a look.
Also keep an eye on D.I.D. for their day sales, normally advertised in the national papers quite regularly. I got a 42" Samsung full hd LCD a few months ago for 450 and a 32" Hannspree full hd LCD to use as a monitor for 300. No issues with either and setup is idiotproof :)

I guess also keep an eye on the websites, but have heard on the radio that DID and powercity are each having bank holiday offers this weekend

Blue Wing, Richersounds in Belfast have a forum on Boards. Their customer service is great and they get a lot of business from Boards members.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1105

They deliver TV's down south using DPD.

LG 37LK450 is a great 1080p Full HD TV and is Saorview approved.

£339.95 plus £20 or so shipping. (or you can collect in Belfast)

They also have the 42" @ £379.95, though it's very close to Currys ROI price when delivery is added.

Tell them 37" is only £329.95 on the main UK site (it's £339.95 on Richersounds.ie) - I'm guessing they'll match the lower price.

Checked ebay, only luzerntech had reasonable ones.. no good as its refurb and we want to get them a new one.
I did check richersounds, their products are very close to currys and very reasonable.

DID are having their sale, and I think we've decided on 499 for the philips 42" its a fantastic price.. Seeing that same TV is on Amazon.co.uk for £499!

Thanks for all the responses guys

no idea of the spec of tv's but seen this advertised in the paper for curry's this morning.

it's a 43" samsung HD ready for €399, have a look yourself and see if the spec is good enough for what you require.

Yeah, but the resolution on that 43" Samsung is terrible, 1024 x 768 pixels!
I don't know how they can call it HD Ready as 720p requires a resolution on of 1280×720 according to Wikipedia - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/720p

fair enough, as i said, i know feck all about what to look for in the spec of a tv.

slighlty off topic but what do i need to look for in the spec of a tv to see if it can play .avi files from a usb stick? I currently have a 24" inch in the bedroom and can plug a hardrive into it and watch movies, i was thinking of getting a cheap 32" instead.
I was looking at this one, it says it has usb connections, does that mean it'll play them or do i need to look for more?

i know it's not a great make but can only really afford that much.

    Typical Currys......Overpriced and shyte too.

The LG 32 inch Full HD/Saorview TV that I bought for 250 euro in Tesco will do this for you.

All you need to do is to unlock it,and away you go.:D

Thanks man, thats a great price, pity its plasma, I'd have gone for it if it was LCD even only being HD Ready...

Got it sorted anyway, got a nice philips 42" in the DID sale :)
