    Hey lads,
Just trying to understand what is ok to take when tryig to build muscle.
What I mean by ok is not steroids or potentially damaging products.

I ve being drinking protein shakes and eating bars the past year, in the gym 4 days a week with my program speading out over different areas during the days.

Any looking at a site whih has Creatine drinks, Muscle builder drinks, Weight gain drinks etc.

Obviously I want to get the most from my work outs but dont want to go down the route of pouring something down my neck that might harm or cause other side effects.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

Eat more to build size. Half price chickens just before the deli closes followed with a pint or two of milk, bargain.

So natural sources of protein like, eggs chicken and steak and ignore all other products!!

I guess if I want the results the diet will have to match the work in the gym.

    Nothings ever easy!

    Thanks Squod

Diet is, by far, much more important.

Problem I'm having is that with all of the protein intake I'm putting on fat too.. I train every 2nd day.

The problem is excess calories not excess protein! Figure out your daily calorie requirements & then divide your protein:fat:carbohydrate intake into it! If you want to gain weight add 500kcal's if you want to lose weight take away 500-1000kcal's!

just google how to calculate your macros
if to eat enough protein you hav to exceed daily calories or fat intake
try to find lower calorie lower fat leaner sources of protein

If you want to put on muscle at a decent rate you're probably going to add some fat too. A common approach is to bulk up and then diet off the excess fat later. Now would be a good time to start, you could get a few months of gains in and still have time to drop the excess fat before Summer arrives.

Sorry but it really isn't. People who can talk to you endlessly about macros and calorie splits etc are ten a penny. People who have actually achieved what all this supplementation and food weighing is supposed to result in are not.

It's completely evident by the overwhelming tidal wave of advice in every diet/supplementation thread vs any meaningful advice on training that's based on results.
