Holland and Barrett - 1c "Sale" Rip-Off

Folks,

just checked the Holland & Barrett 1c "SALE" - where you buy one item at "Full Price" and get the second for 1c and found:

It's a SCAM!

Example: in my local, Clare Hall, H&B they forgot to remove some old prices

Whole Brazil Nuts were €15.75 per 1Kg on the old sticker.

Now they are selling 500g for €17.55 and get another 500g for 1c - ie the 1Kg price has gone UP!

Same for pistachios: Now buy 200g for "only" €5.79, get another 200g for 1c. Did anyone really pay €5.79 for only 200g of pistachios in H&B before the "sale"??

They do have some good deals, you just have to know your prices. Just ignore any sales price and figure out if its good value yourself, this goes for all shops, many have bogus non-offers.

A handy way to check is using google cache.

I see 200g whole brazil nuts are €8.09 now

3.02 is a very good price for brazils. They have no doubt raised the price again to make the other brazils look like a better offer.

Asian shops are good for cheap unsalted nuts, and sometimes the baking section in supermarkets.

I used them regularly in the UK years ago, and when one opened in Tralee I paid a visit, and only bought what I was looking for because it was on offer. Although I've been in several times since, I've bought no more from them. I won't waste my time on them in future, and will stick with Myprotein etc.
