Just heard on rte that people are handing back the referanda slips saying they didnt understand them, so cant vote:D

  • Registered Users Posts: 455 ✭✭mathproblem

Question... If you put 1,2,3 in the proper boxes and leave the rest empty except put 7 in the boxof the guy you hate... is that a spoiled vote, or perfectly proper?

Or would they be getting the lawyers out/hanging chad situation???

MCG seemed to be the man everyone was voting for in South dublin.

I guess illiteracy is much higher than I thought here in Ireland.

I was considering this, but would have guessed your ballot would have been disregarded after the 3rd count as no 4th preference noted on it.

No and No to both referendums. Feeling of Lisbon 1 about the referendum, wasnt really explained properly to the public

Your 1st preference will be counted as a valid vote. Your 2nd and 3rd preferences will be counted as a valid transfer. If you put down a 7th preference only and nothing else in between, everything else after your 3rd preference will be regarded as spoiled. At least that's how I think it works anyway.

If it comes down to my seventh vote for Dana getting into the aras, I will proclaim insanity and declare myself unfit to vote.

that transfer will only work if the rest of the candidates are struck down by some mysterious biblical plague and die. everyone else has to be eliminated for that transfer to ahppen, meaning that she has already won the elction (puke) AND doesnt need the transfer anyway

Back I go to Micky D now.
    Best of a woeful bunch.

My sentiments exactly whiskeyman. I just gave my No. 1 to Higgins. For the first time ever, I didn't follow with 2,3,4 etc. In all honesty, I don't feel the other six deserved a vote at all. If Norris hadn't made his slip-up, he'd have walked in.

Anybody any idea of (roughly) when we'll know the result?

Either late tomorrow night or early Saturday.. depending on how many counts are required.

    Ta URL

I thought it strange that I was asked "Do you want the other two ballot papers as well?" Should they not just have given voters the 3 papers (4 in Dublin West)? Surely they are all of equal importance?

If Martin Mcguinness wins, does that mean he has to leave his job in N.I?

Given the fact that you have a Union Jack in your sig, I suspect you would know the NI procedure more than any of us here.

Guys. If you haven't voted get. There's still 10 minutes to run down to your local polling station and vote NO to the 30th Referendum.

If McGuinness becomes president, does anyone find it funny that he will be the commander-in-chief of the Irish Army, an army he rejected when he was in the IRA.
