    Just back from voting.

I really do wonder how they get those people that work in polling stations.

Exactly. Im spoiling it because I don't really give a toss about the presidential election, but I have a vote so I should use it I guess. Originally I was thinking of just putting a line across the paper but shur that would be a boring way to spoil it.

Hey wait a minute! I just noticed what you said

*don't let this be a sean gallagher vote.

Got it sorted. They just weren't looking in the right place! Kept me there ages waiting. And no, it wasn't a Gallagher vote. :p

I'd say I was the only Norris vote in the box (which will end up with Higgins)
Gallagher will clean up here in Hicksville - cos his mother was born here...

Thought McGuinness was advocating Yes votes to the Referenda?

Anyway, didn't vote Dana for the LOLZ!

    1. Davis
    2. Norris
    3. Higgins

Nice to see Dana is getting nowhere, maybe shell take the hint....

David Norris seems to be doing well , anyone think he might get 3rd or 4th out of MMCG, SG , MD ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,373 ✭✭✭Dartz

    Vote's away.

All the gob****es outside the polling station in their tracksuits bragging about putting the #1 beside McGuinness.... and a big NO beside the rest of them. Made me smile

Possibly be close between himself and SG. Or a 3-way between himself, Gallagher & MMCG (pun intended).

    Mickey D has it anyway.

His support seems to be going up and the last debate wont have done him any harm, but I doubt he'll get 3rd, 4th I'd say. He'll probably get No. 2's from everywhere, Higgins especially, but he'll be eliminated by then so wont count.

Had I bothered to enter a 2,3,4 etc on my ballot, you did the pretty much the OPPOSITE to me.

yeah there is a real divide around.....its amazing really.

SF's terrorist attack on gallagher looks like it worked.

reminds me of when the socialists got in, in spain a couple of years ago.

But...spoiling your vote is the direct opposite of using it. All that spoiling it achieves is having the person counting having to...

    *Pick the paper up*
    *Roll their eyes*
*Put the paper down in "Spoiled" pile*

It's not as if it's some grandoise gesture, and it probably costs you more time spoiling your vote than it does for the person who looks at it. Not voting, if you're that way inclined, would be a bigger gesture surely.

    Just voted there now

Bit the bullet (:p) and gave McGuinness my number 1.. second pref to Norris, and 3rd to Higgins. I want and expect Higgins to win, but I'd like to see the other 2 do better than the rest.

Voted no to both of the referendums.

Voted no to both of the referendums.

You will be sent back until you vote the way they want you to. :)

Not really. With our voting system, you're asked to place your preference for the office on the ballot. Spoiling the vote is a 'None of the above' preference as far as I'm concerned.

True. Spoiled votes don't go towards the quota, while blank votes do. Blank votes are effectively "None of the above". A blank vote is one extra vote a candidate has to attain in order to be elected... making it harder for all to cross the finish line.

  • Registered Users Posts: 83 ✭✭Sure it will be grand

I voted for Higgins because he's the smallest.

Yeah all you're doing is wasting tax euros by rendering the ballot useless.

Cheers for that, by the way.

I suspect that both will be passed anyway so we won't need to worry about that unfortunately :o

Voted for MD too but for different reasons..yes to judges pay and no to inquiry.

    1. Norris
    2. McGuinness
    3. Higgins
    4. Davis

    Yes to both referenda.

  • Moderators Posts: 8,719 ✭✭✭x PyRo

Just back. Voted Norris #1 & Higgins #2.

    'mon the Dave!

Voted no on both of the other things.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,108 ✭✭✭RachaelVO

    1 Norris
    2 Higgins
3 Dana (only cos she's not a threat, and I cant stand the others)
    4 Davis
    5 Mitchell
    6 McGuinnes
    7 Gallagher

In RTE.ie report, they showed pics of all the candidates casting their votes, with the exception of McG, apparently he is the only candidate who can't vote.

A wrong that needs to righted. Our brothers and sisters of the Nationalist community in the six counties should have a vote in this countries elections.

As should all the Irish spread across the globe and also the previous poster who can't vote today because they are in hospital. A vote should not be restricted by the circumstances of your geograhy.

Genuine question...would that constitute a spoiled vote tho? They have shown a clear preference?
