Mods, I don't know if this is something you want in this forum, so feel free to lock or delete as you see fit.

I have heard that some women are being told to be vigilant as a recently released prisoner has returned to the city. This has allegedly been notified to the female staff of University Hospital, for example.

Are these reports just scaremongering and rumour? Or does anyone know of any valid reason for city residents to be concerned?

I have seen no reports online, authoritative or otherwise.

Have seen the rumours doing the rounds on FB that the individual is living in the Inverin area.

Nope, the rumour is that THIS suspected serial killer who was never convicted of murder and who was released after serving a sentence for a particularly vicious rape is living in Inverin. Understandably the word has spread like wildfire.

Can I point out to everyone that there is a special tracker page for this cnut and that he is also allegedly living in Prosperous and in Clane and in South Dublin and North Dublin and West Dublin and was seen in Thurles and in pubs in Wicklow and Waterford according to that.

The rumour machine is worse than feckin McGlinchey sightings back in the day. :(

Having said that I can understand the fear...whether he is in Inverin or not. He should have gotten life for what he did even if he did plead guilty.

Much as I understand people's worries about living close to a rapist, this seems to be just a rumour.
That tracker page places him all over the shop, except Galway (well someone mentions Clifden a few weeks back).
If someone has a reliable link, an on-line paper placing him in city or county for sure, then feel free to PM me but until that time I will have to put a stop to the rumours.

Stay safe out there folks but no need to get worked up over something that might not be true.
