Definitely would be going for the bigger car there to be honest. If you're going to do 13-15k per year might as well do it in comfort. This 406 HDI looks very clean and plenty of NCT with it. No mention of mileage though which is probably quite high too.

Bargain the seller to 1500 and use the extra 500 to cover insurance and tax.

    Sorted.:D

Why is everyone at each others throats here? Not only in this thread, but others too, I've noticed. Why can't we all just get along?........

Just because one doesn't lash a :):D or :pac: after a post it doesn't mean you are having a go.

No need to get your knickers in a twist.

If you genuinely think a nasp 1.9 Vag will pose an insurance issue for anyone that's fair enough.

I'm not suggesting the OP goes out and buys a heap if sh1t diesel needing a timing belt, discs and a clutch.

Fair enough if you think a super mini is a better proposition but there is no need to be throwing around "classic strawman" comments, especially if you follow it up with "I'm guessing" ;)

The difference is, I didn't say a super mini is better and I didn't say you're suggesting buy a clapped out diesel. Simply that at the OP budget, (or indeed the same budget) a diesel will have higher miles and thus might have other costs in repairs. That latter wasn't directed at you at all. It was a general comment.

Could you tax and insure that for 500?

Daihatsu charade 1ltr Turbo diesel, well capable of getting 70mpg, might give ya a spot of head gasket trouble if she abused, but she is a miser!!
