Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I believe Ivan Yeats is filling in for Eamo tomorrow. not sure if it will be permanent or just until they get someone permanent.
Just heard the end of the show today and Ivan said he'd be back next week.

Speaking of which, just watched a bit of it on the website.I thought Ivan had an operation on his back some time ago, but he is still standing up.Did it not fix it? One of his guests was sitting at the computer and with head phones on too.Do guests now have to work extra for their fee?;)

You sure it was a guest and not just a producer?

Presenters by default should stand, It's much better for your speaking voice. For somebody with a back issue perhaps standing is still more comfortable than sitting for long periods.

The guest may have had his/her own reasons for using the computer - read texts, tweets etc.

I didnt hear the start of the show but he never said anything about a producer, but they don't generally contribute verbally on shows, do they?

Given his FG background, I really hope Yates does not become the permanent presenter.

I disagree. If you listen to the breakfast show regularly you would know that Ivan's FG background isn't an issue, in fact, he's very unbiased.

Still, he was for 20 years an FG TD, so he has a clear association with one party in this country.

Dunphy never ran for any party, so he didn't have that baggage.

Maybe Sarah Carey might take it over, I hope so:p;).

I take your point but if you actually listened to him regularly you might think different. If anything it gives him an advantage over other presenters as he has an insight into the political system.

Yates has no problem sticking the knife in Fine Gael when needed!

I rather hope he does. As has been pointed out, his association with FG doesn't seem to be an issue on the Breakfast Show. He has his own opinions, which he's not afraid to express, whether they be pro or anti FG. I don't see it being permanent though.

Oh, I didn't know if the person sitting at the PC was contributing or not. In Newstalk though, I'm pretty sure the computer in studio is fairly basic, texts, tweets, emails, etc. AFAIK, all the shows are produced by someone in a booth, unlike for example Today FM where the DJ's work the desk during the show.

Is she the one that does Talking Point on Saturday's? If so, I'd rather saw my own ears off with a rusty blade.

Wait, if Yates is taking over the Sunday slot is he off Breakfast? I hope so. Haven't been able to listen because of that smug little toad putting me off my cornflakes.

Doubt it. Sure George Hook and Tom Dunne do six days a week as well.

I doubt it, he is keeping the Breakfast show floating at the moment!

And hes up to hes eyeballs in debt so i would imagine he could do with the money!

seems to be just called "the sunday show" now.

doesnt seem to be much in it TBH and the pannel is safe to put it mildly.

glad i switched to marion, much as i dislike her it wasnt as banal as this.

the only real thing they said that struck me is that tony fenton is to be declared bankrupt tomorrow (monday), the rest was pure EU love in shyte.

gonna knock it off and hit the sack.

Really? Oh, didn't know that. I suspected it but then during the RWC George missed the first hour of the show because he was on RTE and then did the second hour.

Yea I have to say the new show was very disappointing. Ivan "former FG Minister" Yeats did his best to attack the government on the small issues to put up an appearance of being unbiased but overall on the big economic issues the show turned out to be real the government is great the government is good type stuff. With Sam Smyth saying good bye and Anton "Enda Kenny's advisor" Savage taking over on Today FM yesterday was a bad bad day for independent journalism in Ireland.

You can tell which ones are pre-recorded when they come back from a break. If they push to have listeners text the show at 30c a pop then it is live. If they don't mention texting then the show is recorded. I wonder how much they make on texts during Hooks Saturday Sit in.
