I've asked the mod to apologise for their prejudice against particular users (not me).

People have expressed opinions and given the title of the thread I find the lenience shown to some contrasting with the contempt shown to others ironic.

I know this is not a free speech zone, but the mod completely missed my point in contacting them. It wasn't just the treatment of one user, but the lack of similar infractions for others.

There are people in that forum who become extremely precious at the expression of alternate views, which is the last place I would expect a minority view to be lacerated.

The thread was problematic in that it attracted a number of people who are opposed to different forms of LGBT rights.

    Marienbad - personal attacks
    Cavehill red - soapboxing
    Crystal lettuce - personal attacks
Newsite - attacking other posters and soapboxing

    Were all given infractions.

Given that the forum charter is clear in saying that the forum should be a safe space I do have to take sides at times. The forum is not designed to be a debate where LGBT people should be constantly attacked for discussing issues to do with their rights. In the case mentioned by ninety9er I infracted newsite because he accused other posters of being racist and because he was soapboxing about religious views of marriage without listening to LGBT people.
    13. This forum is welcome to everyone regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity to discuss LGBT issues. We do however insist that people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender have the right to be treated with dignity and respect and that the forum be treated as a safe space for LGBT people. If you contribute to a thread you are expected to be willing to learn about the issues involved, and listen to what is said by members of the community/ies involved.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
