E-mailing our TDs?

    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone would be interested in e-mailing our four Waterford TDs regarding the abomination that is NAMA?

I read this piece in the Irish Times...

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opinion/2011/1101/1224306842630.html

...and one of the comments at the end suggested people contact their local TD and ask "why is this happening?"

A single e-mail can easily be ignored (so can 100, I guess), but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

    What do people think?

    What do I think?

    ok so because you asked!
I think if your looking to get a straight answer off a TD/politician your best bet is to hold on for a really windy day,
wait until you have to go to the toilet and then go outside and pee like hell into that wind..

Fairly sure its cheap compared with other countries, if im not mistaken. Wish the USI would focus on things they can change, rather than fighting fees.

    Thanks for the replies.

A few replies of my own then:

Re facebook/twitter: thanks for the info, but as strange as it sounds, I think email might be more formal (Never thought I'd be saying "email is formal")

Re straight answer: I'm not expecting one - I just think it's no harm that our TDs realise people are alive and have an idea of what's going on - and not just at election times.

Re email addresses: I Googled td email addresses and found them on this website if anyone is interested:

    https://www.jackandjill.ie/2011/03/tds-contact-details-31st-dail-march-2011/

Our TDs official contact details are:
    Paudie.coffey@oireachtas.ie
    ciara.conway@oireachtas.ie
    john.deasy@oireachtas.ie
    john.halligan@oireachtas.ie

I emailed "our representatives" and will let you know of any replies.

I realise they can't answer every inquiry within 24 hours or anything, but it would be good manners to provide even a semi-automated response at some stage.

If not, then we can only assume that making TDs email addresses public is a pure PR exercise, and a fairly cynical one at that.
