He just doesn't score enough really Harry was right on Ruiz as well though, so really in Harry I trust.

Completely forgot about Ruiz at Fulham. I thought he looked really good for Twente in some European games but i think he only has one league goal for Fulham so far?. Looks like a good call by Harry.

No better than what we have already. I wouldn't be going mad buying anyone in January unless we got a bad injury or something or unless we sold a regular which is unlikely.

To be fair, there's not too many midfielders or attackers ahead of our midfield these days.

I have to agree with what Kenny Cunnigham said on the premiership sat night, We need a top class CB and CF (sure we've all been saying the same).

Kaboul is going great guns at the moment but with Kings history I'd be very worried about our top4 challenge if we lost King while Dawson is still out.

Would love to see a 1st Class CB and perhaps a keeper

BF is excellent, but he is getting on a bit

The narrower a man’s mind, the broader his statements.

    ANDY CARROLL

I'm not expecting much support for this but personally I think he would be great for us. 20m well spent if he would come to us and Pool would sell for 15m less than they bought.

Failing that I'd love to see us splash out for Soldado or Llorente.

I can't see Anelka or Drogba taking pay cuts to come to Spurs. There is talk of giving them a big signing on fee but if we could do that we should just sign Adebayor instead.

Hoilette or Dembele would be handy squad players but I wouldn't play them ahead of Lennon or Bale.

Er Carroll no thanks all he does is like crouch encourage the long ball and we are way way better passing it on the deck.

I fancied Carroll might do a job for us at Newcastle but I'd only just about pay a third what Liverpool did then. I definately wouldn't pay €10m for him now let alone €20m.

I'd love to sign Ade but I think we will be a victim of his success and a decent European team will break the bank and pay much more then we will offer. I can see him doing well for the rest of the season.

It's definitely a player in his image we should be going for. Big strong and an eye for goal.

i called for carrol ahead of crouch a while back. that was before l;iverpool jumped in with a ridicolous bid but i would easily perfer a football player not a big stick up front. dont get me wrong crouch did well for us but im not sad to see him go i think as has been said above we are a better side with the ball on the deck.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,913 ✭✭✭Ormus

I agree we are better with the ball on the deck but more importantly we are best with only one striker. Thats why we got Ade, cos he has enough physical presence to play up top on his own. Crouch had the height but wasn't as skillful as Ade or as strong as Carroll.

If we lost Ade i'd love to see Llorente and some young buck with plenty of promise come in! To be honest with the chances we create we are a centre forwards wet dream!:D

Also we need cover at CB - Maybe Caulker will be up to the task, aint seen much of him at Norwich?

Caulker is at Swansea, was in their first 11 at the start of the season but then got injured and is just nearing fitness again. He will have to fight to win his place back in what has been a solid defence. Not sure if it would do him any good to be sitting on our bench for months on end. He needs games to develop.

The PAOK game showed that without Adebayor we have no focal point. Kane is only 18, but the is lumbering, and a striker without any pace is a liability. He might grow into himself, but he reminds me of Mark Falco, and the game has moved on.
A striker is a must. Why sign Ade, he's in the shop window on loan, and will continue to bust a gut until the summer. Get in cover for him, whoever it is. The usual list will be trotted out, there are lots of strikers, just need to be the right one. At the back, Bassong has lost all confidence, and it looks like he'll be going with not much market value. The best thing to do is decide on Samba or Cahill, and make Bassong part of the deal on loan til the summer. If he plays well his value will double (£3m to £6m).
Outside of that, take good money for the deadwood, and hold tight til summer. If we are top three, players will want to come. The harry situation also needs to be resolved.
Anelka wouldn't be a bad call up front. He always starts well at a new club.

Leandro Damiao now seems to being looked at by every top European club we have an offer on the table I think so maybe still a chance he could come to spurs.

Umhmm, he hasnt found last seasons form, that for sure.

Maybe Jageilka or even hungelund would be better options.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says the club are ready to sign a "special player" in January but does not expect it to be Carlos Tevez.

Redknapp said: "If someone came along who we thought was special and could make a difference, we'd go for him."

Spurs have recently been linked with Argentine striker Tevez, who is keen to leave Manchester City.

"He's a special player who could make the difference," said Redknapp, "but I wouldn't think that's a possibility."

The Spurs boss is confident that chairman Daniel Levy will give him the funds to sign a top player in January.

"The chairman would back me all the way if we felt it was someone who could take us that extra little bit forward," he added.

"But finding them is very difficult, there aren't many around like that."

Tottenham take on Shamrock Rovers in their final Europa League group game on Thursday, knowing that their chances of making the last 32 are slim.

Redknapp, whose side lost their 11-match unbeaten run when they lost 2-1 to Stoke on Sunday, has taken a squad of only 15 players to Dublin.

In the run-up to the game, the Redknapp again pushed the idea of trialling two referees in matches.

"[For referees] to keep pace with play must be very very difficult," he said. "I just think it's an idea.

"I met Shaun Edwards [Wales rugby coach] the other day and he said he played in a tournament in rugby that had two referees and it worked a treat. I don't think it's an impossibility in our game."

I wonder if it will happen? The thought of it has made me go a bit tingly though :D

Above all not Tevez. I'd rather sign Ade anyway. He'd be decent fir 6/8 weeks then there would be another Drama and he'd want off.

There was talk of KaKa in the summer. Is he getting his game at Real?

Not me , if city were giving him to us for free i wouldnt take him.

I'm the opposite to be honest. If we got him in for the remainder of the season, imagine our strikeforce? I know Defoe would be pissed off, but Tevez and Adebayor would make getting into the top 4 that much easier.

I can't stand the guy and everything he personifies but on the pitch the guy is a quality player that gives everything.

I think Alex would be a very good defender to bring in better than Cahill anyway imo

Spending wise I can see Spurs doing same old same old. The club treat midfielders like ladies in Santa costumes. You dont need to bang them but it pleases us :D

Same with our midfielders, we don't need any but no doubt with the Lennon injury a Right Mid will be drafted in.

I got among other things an official spurs calendar for Christmas. Modric is January. Conspiracy enthusiasts would think he is there in case he leaves in the jan window. :)

Says a lot of the current team that we arent been seriously linked to anyone of any note, or the fact that us spurs fans arent on here morning, noon and night clamering for HR to go out and buy this fella, that fella and such n' such...

Am I correct in saying that Ade has retired from international football and wont be off to the African nations with Togo (did Togo even qualify?)
