what is heating your existing house?
may i suggest you insulate the hell out of it, get good windows and air-test it. this will help reduce the need for either

House is currently heated on solid fuel cooker, built on bigger utility and want to heat these with the gas or the oil. Anybody any reasons why I should choose one over the other personal experiences with oil or gas would be great cheers

With natural gas you have one supplier however you do have a few different billing agents.

Gas boiler is small enough to build into kitchen wall presses, no need to buy in fuel and store it.

Oil boilers can also be small enough to fit in the kitchen or utility but take up floor space, you will need an oil tank to store the fuel possibly a bunded oil tank.

The downside of both is you could have a problem getting a boiler with small enough output just to heat the extension (unless it's a very big extension).

I would recommend talking to your plumber about linking the new system to the old and fitting a boiler big enough to service both systems and zone them.
