Hi. Eircom line checker tells me that the fastest line speed I can receive is 4mb but my modem tells me this:

    SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 124 150
    Attenuation (0.1 dB): 430 240
    Output Power (0.1 dBm): 141 1
    Attainable Rate (Kbps): 6560 1280
    Rate (Kbps): 3072 384

I'm on a 3mb package as you can see but I'm wondering can my line support faster?

    Cheers

After a reboot the modem is now showing a faster attainable rate:

    SNR Margin (0.1 dB): 126 150
    Attenuation (0.1 dB): 430 240
    Output Power (0.1 dBm): 96 1
    Attainable Rate (Kbps): 8320 1268

My exchange is Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow if that helps.

that modem looks borked, 12.4 seems more likely than 124

db measurement levels above 70db mean no broadband for you at all, ever.

12.4 margin and 43db base noise indicate max 3-4 mbits, about right.

Yeah, the modem gives the figures in 0.1db so just divide by 10, it's a bit strange.

Crap, was hoping to get better speeds. Our exchange isn't getting ngb either :(

    Hi sameoldname,

    Sorry for delay responding.

I suggest you try a broadband speedtest on both eircom's website : www.eircom.net/speedtest and then maybe try a comparison with speedtest.net.

PM me your phone number and I will take a look at your broadband sync and router tomorrow.

    Cheers,
    Ant
