I checked out the Youryourcall.ie website to see what progress had been made to date on the winning entries and there was no new information posted.
    http://www.yourcountryyourcall.ie/
Given the amount of publicity generated for this project and involvement of the Presidential Office, I would have expected to have seen more information available at this point of 2011.
Has this project lived up to all its claims to provide Ireland with opportunities for employment and opportunities or was it just a PR project ?

It was a waste of money at a time when we need this money (to pay unguaranteed bondholders of course! :P) as many of us on thread here predicted

now wait for yourcountryyourcall 2.0 with a slogan of "wasting your tax money twice as efficiently"

Even if the site gave some up to date information on what the state of progress was it would be some thing ! It might very well be the kind of thing RTE could have made a documentary about, charting the development and progress of both projects. It might have very well been inspirational for other would be entrepreneurs.
But complete silence must be the least acceptable result.

That generated quite a bit of discussion over in the economics board at the time. IT seemed that few people had any faith in it and I was one of them. The ideas posted were mostly very loose descriptions of project with abundant uses of the words and phrases "innovative", "green" and "smart economy".

Now, I'll be the first to say that doing nothing leads to nothing but the problem with these competitions and "think-ins" is that they utterly lack focus and are little more than propaganda. Getting a pile of academics down from the ivory tower and putting them to work will only result in convoluted nonsense because few such people have any real experience. The evidence of this can be seen when things like "Dublin to be a technology hub" appear in the media.

Since the winners of Your Country Your Call were announced, Ireland has had the IMF come to visit. Will this affect Leyden’s development plan? “The only issue is the reputation of Ireland abroad. We’ve taken a kicking in the area aimed at foreign direct investment,” he says. “It’s startling to see how much innovation is coming out of the US and so little out of Europe. We have to get over our fear of failure.”

Spoofer in my book, I'm yet to be proved wrong...

I'd worry more about the Digital Hub Development Agency if I were you - state agency well in the red...tune of €41,000,000 - €100k seems a drop in the ocean.
