Two men have appeared at Mullingar District Court as garda investigations continue into a robbery at a filling station in the town in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Five men tied up an employee before escaping with a sum of €425.

Gardaí gave chase and two men were later arrested and taken to Mullingar Garda station.

Arturs Kirps, 23, and Andres Berzins, 29, who had arrived in Ireland from Latvia on 27 October and are of no fixed abode, were remanded in custody to appear at Mullingar District Court on 10 November.
