Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    'HOW FECKIN MUCH...:eek::eek::eek:'

A low mileage gtv in ok condition (was due a belt etc) sold at auction a while back in the uk for over 5000 sterling....

They're impossible to put a price on, but low milage models are going for decent money in the uk.

I would agree with you but my BIL just did the same. New T/belt on a VW Sharan and lost of other work in the last 12 months plus 9 months tax and a full nct. Some women just have to be listened too :P

Some people give away really good cars for silly money not realizing what they have, sounds like someone got a bargain with that sharan.

    Shell looks straight enough .

    Wants €250...

Yeah, thats an ad for a logbook and VIN plates for someone to make a ringer.

That shell was in a scrapyard in Kildare about 4 years ago.

I don't know, wouldn't like to be codding someone like that. It's a bit fishy like that you know? You'd think someone would use the new service work as bait to keep the car longer on the hook before selling.

Especially for carrying around young children, the Sharan would be a good catch.

Or what about a mazda 626?
Or alternatively something from "la isla bonito" - ie something SEAT perhaps??

Sooooooooooooooo want this, but for two reasons:
    1. Its over priced
    2. The tax is a killer

That one in Cork is still for sale....go on you know you need a busso in your life.

It Doesn't make sense for someone to go to the bother of getting the belt changed and getting a good service carried out and to then sell the car just 3k miles down the road for an asking price that must surely be under the cost of that maintenance. Taxed until the end of the month too

I agree, fairly fishy carry on there. No mention of the balance belt, pump etc. Maybe they can't solve the airbag issue and thus the car is effectively written off...?

He's getting desperate to shift that now. He had a firm offer a few months back, but completely dicked the buyer around.

I'll hold on to my JTS for now, I think :D

great find there:D no idea how they compare but as standard they are less powerful and detuned compared to the Delta:(

Would still have one over a Delta.

I remember a neighbor in the 90s had a base model 1.6. Have not seen one in some time.

Nice one here, not sure if that price is good or bad, don't know what these cars generally make. Not a big fan of them wheels.
For those of ye in the midlands/west, it's Fergal Darcy off iRadio's car.

The motortax on the 523i is co2 €750 as against 1080 for cc, they were a big (for petrol) improvement over pre facelift but only in manual of course.

Assuming that's a brand new crate motor, I would bet on 500 bhp+ and 600 lb/ft+. The new ~7 litre crate motors put out over 400bhp/450lb/ft so it would be expected to be above that mark.

Very rare beast, that 548ci, so rare that I've never actually seen one in anything before. And I spend a lot of time at work researching yanktanks :P

Of all the colors they could of painted it they go and paint it that rotten color. It's not a very thorough paint job either with the engine bay and interior left in the original color. It would look so much better in a metallic blue or black color or even in its original red.

Agreed, as it needs finishing I'd be pretty sure the new owner will repaint it, they look really well in metallic blue too.

Not exempt exactly. VRT on a 30+ year old car is €200. Anything after 1979 will require a yearly NCT.

Not quite the same spec, but a hell of a lot cheaper.

I've been looking at that estate for €1750 for the past few days, but I really don't know what to think about the green.

If money was no objection I'd have the 300TE and have it sprayed black over grey and fine some black leather for it

Although I love 240zs, is that not an insane price considering how much is left to do?

Especially since someone else posted a near mint 260z for €13500 a few pages back.

In that particular ad, that'd be the least of my concerns!

In general, it's just a tactic to push you into buying. "My car is so awesome the first person who sees it will for sure buy it so get on to me quickly!".

It's done by plonkers and as soon as I see it in an ad, that's game over.

It really is a pointless thing in an ad.
If it was so good it would be sold before anyone even saw it....

I went to see a car yesterday on donedeal 2 days but by the wording of the ad it seems it was advertised before. I went to see it every thing grand drove without problems and reasonable price. When I checked the log book one thing stood out the man selling it was not the owner on the log book (the owners address was 20 miles away from cars location) He told me it's his wife's car and the name on the log book is her brothers she bought it off him but never changed owner. Alarm bells went off and I walked away. He could be genuine but it wasn't worth the risk.

If it was me I would just give the local gardai if you still have the reg. The car could be stolen.

whats the story with teh Meath guys? whats the actual issue with the cars, apart from lady owner etc? Is it cloned? stolen?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,331 ✭✭✭toyotaavensis

I think that is where those NCT certs were stolen
